With Borderlands 3 soon upon us, Gearbox has given fans of the series a prologue of sorts in the form of a brand new Borderlands 2 DLC pack and it’s completely free. Dubbed Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary, this DLC leads directly into the story of Borderlands 3. This DLC comes with a lot, including a brand new legendary weapon. Here’s how to get the M2828 Thompson.

Before we jump into how exactly to get this weapon, let’s take a refresher on weapon ratings in Borderlands 2. After all, for a lot of people, this is their first time back in the game in years.

Here’s What the Weapon Ratings Are

  • White: Common
  • Green: Uncommon
  • Blue: Rare
  • Purple: Epic
  • Orange: Legendary
  • Magenta: E-Tech
  • Pink: Seraph
  • Cyan: Pearlescent
  • Rainbow: Effervescent

Now, the M2828 Thompson is a legendary weapon so it’s not quite the best like a pearlescent weapon might be, which you can read more about here, but it’s still a pretty rare weapon nonetheless and certainly worth your time.

With awesome perks, the M2828 Thompson is a must-have weapon. Speaking of perks, let’s talk about what the gun’s perks are.

Here’s What the M2828 Thompson Perks Are

Every Borderlands 2 weapon has a set of stats and perks below it that make the gun unique. Here’s what the M2828 Thompson’s stats are:

  • Damage: 206.2
  • Accuracy: 93.0
  • Fire Rate: 16.7
  • Reload Speed: 3.8
  • Magazine Size: 60.0

Here’s what its perks are:

  • “Increased weapon stability”
  • “Fires as fast as you can pull the trigger”

You can see why this gun is a must-have weapon now, right? Theoretically, this is the fastest-firing gun in the Borderlands universe and that’s because it will shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger.

That perk coupled with its increased weapon stability means this weapon is not only fast but extremely accurate.

Now that you’re frothing at the mouth to get your hands on this, let’s talk about how exactly to get this weapon.

How to Get the M2828 Thompson

Now, if you see what the M2828 Thompson looks like, it’s likely immediately familiar. That’s because it’s similar in look to the Thompson machine gun used in many World War 2 video games, including Gearbox’s very own Brothers in Arms series.

Here’s a picture of what it looks like:Borderlands 2: How to Get M2828 Thompson & Its Perks

To find the weapon, you need to go to the Dahl Abandon. This is a named location on your map so simply fast travel or drive there.

Once there, head to the circular building and go to the western side of it. There should be a small ledge below. Drop down this ledge and nearby, you should see a soldier’s helmet on the ground.

In front of this helmet is a pile of dirt. Smash it and within should be the M2828 Thompson.

That’s it for our guide on how to get the M2828 Thompson in Borderlands 2 and what its perks are.
