How to Throw Grenades in Apex Legends
Apex Legends released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One yesterday and many players are jumping in for the first time attempting to learn the ropes. Here’s how to throw grenades in Apex Legends.
Respawn, the team behind Apex Legends, is an EA-owned development studio made up of past Infinity Ward employees (who worked on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series) most known for their past two games, Titanfall and Titanfall 2. Apex Legends is not a Titanfall game, but those who have played Titanfall will feel right at home.
It’s very similar to the feel of Titanfall’s shooting when you’re not in a titan with some Overwatch-like character zeal thrown in. The Titanfall feel and Overwatch-like elements come together in Apex Legends as a battle royale game.
It’s free-to-play and features cosmetic-only microtransactions, save for two heroes locked behind a paywall. Despite similarities to other games, it is still very much a new game, which is why many players might be jumping into their first match with more questions than kills and wins, like how to throw grenades.
To throw a grenade on the PC version of Apex Legends, locate the G key. Pressing the G key will allow you to select a grenade.
Once you’ve selected the grenade you want to use, hold down the left button on the mouse to aim and fire the grenade. Similar to shooting, wherever the mouse is pointed is the general area of where the grenade will be thrown.

On PS4 and Xbox One, to select a grenade, you must press right on the d-pad. This will allow you to scroll through your grenades.
With your grenade selected, press either RT (on Xbox One) or R2 (on PS4) to aim and throw the grenade. Similar to virtually any other shooter on the market, when you press the button to throw the grenade, the general area you were looking at is where the grenade will be thrown.
