Who Netflix Witcher’s Yennefer Is (Anya Chalotra): Age, Roles & More
Despite the fact that no Witcher novels or a sequel to the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on the way, fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s beloved Witcher series have plenty to be excited about. That’s because the Netflix announced last year that it’s putting a live-action adaptation of the franchise into production. Importantly, the cast playing the actors is finally beginning to emerge, including the popular Yennefer. Anya Chalotra is bringing the sorceress to life in the upcoming series, and if you’re wondering who Netflix Witcher’s Yennefer is, we’ve got you covered.
Anya Chalotra trained first at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and then at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She certainly isn’t a household name actress, having only come to prominence very recently. Her breakout role has been playing the character of Jennifer Ashman in Wanderlust, which aired this year. She’s also credited for a role in ABC Murders, which is currently in filming.
Her theatre appearances include in Notoriously Abused, Balm in Gilead, The Same Deep Water As Me, Great Expectations, The Crucible, The Merchant of Venice, Prometheus Bound, Parade, Flare Path, Man of Mode, Waiting for Godot, The Cherry Orchard, Playhouse, The Mystery Plays, and The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling.
But essentially, Anya Chalotra is a young and upcoming talent. As such, we don’t have a great deal of information about her. For some fast facts, we do know she’s around 22 years old and stands 5’6 feet tall.
Ironically, “look” has been somewhat divisive on the internet as a result of her young age. Closer inspection of her other pictures, however, reveals a more mature face than the image that’s been circulated most prominently. We think she’ll suit the role just fine, particularly given that the idea is presumably for her to grow into the role. On that note, in fact, The Witcher producers recently cited the cast of Game of Thrones as a demonstration of that very same concept –they were also extremely baby-faced before the first season of that famous show aired. So there you have it, Anya Chalotra might be short on acting experience, but she’s done something to catch the eye of The Witcher Netflix show’s producers. Certainly, Chalotra will be hoping her performance alongside Hollywood actor Henry Cavill will help put her name on the map.
