The Call of Duty franchise popularized the XP system among shooters with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back in 2007. XP was a novel concept for shooters back then, allowing players to earn points for every kill and objective completed to level up and earn prestige, which in turn earned new weapons and perks. The XP system returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’s very similar to developer Treyarch’s previous game, Black Ops 3. Earning XP is very easy since every action you do in-game can earn you XP, such as killing enemies, completing objectives, and even finishing matches. Be sure to pick a game type like Domination or Search & Destroy, which offer extra opportunities to earn XP by capturing points and planting/defusing bombs.
You’ll almost always earn more XP and level up fast in Black Ops 4 if you focus on playing objective-based game modes, and actually playing the objective rather than going for kills. It might not be your preferred game mode, but these are the best modes to rack up huge scores.
Complete Challenges
There are also challenges with specific requirements that can be completed over multiple matches that also award XP. To find these, all you need to do is select the multiplayer option from the Black Ops 4 main menu and then press the Options button on PS4 or Menu button on Xbox One.
