CoD Black Ops 4 Level Up Guide: How to Level Up & Prestige Fast

How to Level Up and Prestige Fast in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Recommended Videos

If multiplayer is your jam in the CoD series, chances are you’re wondering how to level up and prestige fast in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know down below.

The Call of Duty franchise popularized the XP system among shooters with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back in 2007. XP was a novel concept for shooters back then, allowing players to earn points for every kill and objective completed to level up and earn prestige, which in turn earned new weapons and perks. The XP system returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’s very similar to developer Treyarch’s previous game, Black Ops 3. Once you’ve reached a certain amount of XP earned from playing competitive multiplayer matches, your account levels up and you earn unlock tokens.

These unlock tokens allow you to unlock new weapons, scorestreaks, specialist abilities, and more as long as you’ve met the level requirement for the item. You earn one unlock token per level, so be careful with what you choose.

Like past Call of Duty titles, players can reset their rank by “prestiging” once the max level has been achieved, which is level 55 in Black Ops 4. Prestiging means your rank will be reset back to level one alongside all weapons, attachments, and perks having to be unlocked again. Below, we’ve included some of our top tips to level up fast in Black Ops 4.

  • Choosing the Right Game Modes
  • Complete Challenges
  • Double XP Codes and Weekends

Choosing the Right Game Modes

Earning XP is very easy since every action you do in-game can earn you XP, such as killing enemies, completing objectives, and even finishing matches. Be sure to pick a game type like Domination or Search & Destroy, which offer extra opportunities to earn XP by capturing points and planting/defusing bombs.

You’ll almost always earn more XP and level up fast in Black Ops 4 if you focus on playing objective-based game modes, and actually playing the objective rather than going for kills. It might not be your preferred game mode, but these are the best modes to rack up huge scores.

Complete Challenges

There are also challenges with specific requirements that can be completed over multiple matches that also award XP. To find these, all you need to do is select the multiplayer option from the Black Ops 4 main menu and then press the Options button on PS4 or Menu button on Xbox One. Use R1 or RB to tab over to challenges and you’ll have several different sets of challenges you can check out.

Challenges in Black Ops 4 multiplayer offer between 500 and 1500 XP each. Complete a whole set, and you’ll get 5000 XP. That’s a huge boost compared to what you’ll earn by simply playing the game, and is a surefire way to level up fast.

Double XP Codes and Weekends

One of the best ways to level up fast in Black Ops 4 multiplayer currently is to take advantage of the Monster Energy double XP codes. There are promotional packs of Monster Energy drink that contain double XP codes. We’ve got a full guide on how to redeem Monster Energy double XP codes, so be sure to check that out if you’re unsure on how to do that.

Once you’ve got these redeemed on your account, you’ll get one hour in-game of double XP goodness. What we will say is don’t activate these on your first few games. Get used to the game and find your form first. Your XP boosts are going to be the most useful when you’re earning a lot naturally in the game. Don’t let the hype and prospect of an initial, small boost, stop you from reaping the maximum rewards.

Also, pay attention to when Black Ops 4 is holding double XP weekends. It can be very beneficial when grinding out the last few levels to top you over to the next prestige if you have the time.
