Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion brings a lot of new content to the game, in an attempt to be to Destiny 2 what The Taken King was to the first game. Alongside new story content focusing on the death of Cayde-6, a brand new Raid, and new exotics to collect, new engrams have been added to the game. Prime Engrams are one of those new items that have been brought to the game by Forsaken and, if you’re struggling to keep up with what all the different engrams so in Destiny 2, here’s everything you need to know about what Prime Engrams are and how to get them.

Prime Engrams, once obtained, grant you with a piece of gear that is guaranteed to be at the Destiny 2 Forsaken soft level cap. They can usually be found by defeating a ‘challenging’ enemy, such as a boss of some sort. You’ll be happy to hear, though, that there’s a way of maximizing your chance of getting Prime Engrams.

Forsaken also saw the addition of a buff called Prime Attunement, which increases the likelihood of Prime Engrams dropping when it is active. You can activate the buff once per day by talking to the Cryptarch at the Tower. The buff lasts all day, so it isn’t an issue that it can only be activated once. Be sure to go and talk to the Cryptarch before you head out on the hunt for Prime Engrams, though. Keep in mind, however, that it does seem to be harder to find them after the first one has dropped with Prime Attunement.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Prime Engrams in Destiny 2 Forsaken and what they are. For more tips and tricks on both the base game and the expansion, be sure to check out our extensive wiki guide.
