Is Guacamelee 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch? What You Need to Know
Guacamelee 2 sees the return of everyone’s favorite Lucha Libre wrestler, Juan, as he goes on yet another Metroidvania adventure to save the Mexiverse from evil once more. Expect plenty of chicken jokes, special moves, and platforming action, just as we saw in the first game all those years ago. There’s just more of it this time around and it’s all the better for it. Just check out what we made of Guacamelee 2 in our full review here! However, there’s one thing that immediately strikes you when you play Guacamelee 2, and that is, despite how well it plays on PS4, it would really be perfect on Nintendo Switch.
Sadly, Drinkbox Studios has yet to officially announce anything regarding whether or not Guacamalee 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, considering how its Metroidvania gameplay lends itself so well to pick-up-and-play sessions, we’d be very surprised if it doesn’t eventually make its way over to the Switch sometime in the future.
Adding fuel to the fire is DrinkBox Studios’ co-founder Billy Graham’s comment when asked whether or not Guacamelee 2 could come to other platforms in the future. “We’re currently completely focused on the PS4/ PS4 Pro versions of Guacamelee 2, and aren’t announcing any other platforms at this time.”
Sure, that could mean that the developer will opt to bring the title to PC and Xbox One instead of the Nintendo Switch, but we’re taking that as a promising sign we’ll be Rooster Uppercutting bad guys in the face on the portable system soon.
This is, of course, some speculation on our part, and for now, the official answer is that Guacamelee 2 isn’t coming to the Nintendo Switch, but if things do change in the future, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know.
