How to Beat the Swine Prince in Darkest Dungeon

Recommended Videos

The Swine Prince is one of the major story bosses you’ll encounter in the Warrens area in Darkest Dungeon. While the Prince himself is the main target, you’ll also need to defeat his sidekick Wilbur to end the fight. Here’s how you can prepare effectively for the boss.

If you have an Arbalest in Darkest Dungeon, you’re definitely going to want to bring him along. The Rallying Flare ability is key to finishing this fight efficiently. If you don’t have one, you’ll need strong characters that can deal damage quickly. First off, the Swine Prince will always take up the first three ranks, while Wilbur takes the fourth. Wilbur will mark a character every turn, and the Swine Prince will follow up with a powerful attack on that character. One key thing to note here is that you do not want to attack Wilbur. If you do that, the Prince will become enraged and retaliate with a devastating attack. Instead, if you have a Plague Doctor or a Bounty Hunter, you can try to stun Wilbur for zero damage, and this will force the Prince to use a much less powerful melee attack.

On the other hand, the Arbalest’s Rallying Flare ability will also remove marks on your players in Darkest Dungeon, allowing you to mitigate the Prince’s damage even further. For this fight, you’ll want to focus on taking down the Prince as quickly as possible. The Leper is a great choice for damage and protection, and the Flagellant is also very useful for his healing abilities and damage. Once you’ve taken out the Swine Prince, Wilbur himself should be a very easy target to deal with.
