Fortnite’s Hidden Nuke Base Looks Suspiciously Like a Season 4 Event

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

After all of the theories and rumors, Fortnite Battle Royale’s Season 3 ended in a way that some had partially predicted. The comet hanging in the sky did, in fact, crash down onto the map, but it wasn’t Tilted Towers that took the brunt of the impact. Dusty Depot has almost completely disappeared, with the three colored containers now being just one and a half colored containers. It’s a sad day for container kind. But in its place comes Dusty Divot, an apt name for a giant crater if you ask us, and while this is certainly the most significant change that the comet brought to the map, the damage hasn’t been limited to there.

Tilted Towers took a meteor to the face, the prison by Moisty Mire is essentially now a crater surrounded by a husk of what it once was, and meteor crash sites can be spotted all over the map. All in all, it was a fantastic way to end Fortnite’s space-themed Season 3.

Epic has added in more than just the aftermath of the meteor strike, though, and no, we’re not talking about Risky Reels, either. Over on the west side of the map, by Snobby Shores, there’s a hidden nuclear bunker, and we’ve got a bit of a theory about it.

The hidden nuclear bunker can be found on the mountain to the east of the northernmost house in Snobby Shores. You’re looking for a small shack, though you can get in from another entrance on the side of the mountain if you build up to it. We’ve included an image below.

The inside is a fairly standard affair for the most part. The corridors are bland, there’s a swimming pool in there for some reason, and there’s the odd floor weapon and chest, too. It’s the giant nuclear warhead that stands proudly in the main room, however, that’s really piqued our interest.

Obviously, a nuclear warhead has the capability to destroy… well… a lot, and with the theme of Fortnite’s Season 4 being a superheroes, we can’t help but feel this might be the lair of, I don’t know, a supervillain? While the nuclear warhead itself is ominous enough, purple banners can be spotted hanging around the bunker, as if it’s the logo of a new evil force, check the images out and see what you make of it yourself.

Whether or not this has anything to do with another event in Fortnite remains to be seen, but it does seem like a rather odd thing to just add in out of the blue. Could the superheroes come to save Fortnite’s map from literally being erased from existence? Is this another attempt at removing Tilted Towers from the map? Currently, it’s a little early to know for sure exactly what Epic Games has planned for Season 4’s event – if it is to have one like Season 3 – but if we had to put money on it, we’re pretty sure this nuclear bunker has something to do with it.
