How to Get Mushrooms & What They Do in Fortnite Battle Royale

Recommended Videos

We’ve only had apples in Fornite Battle Royale for a short while and already Epic Games is shoving fungi into the game. Mushrooms, which you’ve probably seen for a while in Fortnite Battle Royale, are now a consumable item you can interact with that can be just what you need to give you the slight edge on your opponent in battle.

First, let’s run you through what mushrooms do in Fortnite. These essentially act as the shield equivalent of the apples. Where apples can be consumed to give you 5 health all the way up to 100, mushrooms will grant you 5 shield when consumed, all the way up to 100, too. The power of fruit and fungi is immense!

To get yourself some of these shield-giving mushrooms, you’re going to want to look around shaded areas of the map. Right next to trees has yielded good results for us, but also be sure to check out the likes of Moisty Mire and Wailing Woods, as the patch notes claim that mushrooms can be “found around shady wooded or swampy areas.” Lonely Lodge is also probably a good place worth checking, as well as the surrounding area of Shifty Shafts, with it being quite wooded and shaded.

That’s all you need to know about the new consumable fungi in Fortnite. For more on the game, be sure to check out our wiki.
