Life Is Strange, before the storm, episode 3, review

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm actually acted as a prequel to the original game, telling the story of Chloe Price and Rachel Amber and how they came to be friends while Max was away. Though the avid photographer isn’t a focal point in the main three episodes of Before the Storm, Farewell is set to explore those parting moments between Chloe and Max before the season began.

Though we’re sure there will be plenty of teenage angst and drama in Farewell, there’s also likely to be a nice bit of character development between the two best friends. Not to mention, it’ll be awesome to see how close Max and Chloe were before distance took its toll on their friendship.

Kirby Star Allies (Switch – March 16)

Best Games to Look Forward to in March 2018

If there’s one game that’s going to steal all the limelight when it comes to the Nintendo Switch in March 2018, it’s Kirby Star Allies. The adorable pink blob sets off on an adventure to save Dream Land from chaos when Dark Hearts begin falling from the sky, turning anyone who touches them to turn evil.  That is, except for Kirby.

Kirby can use these to help him recruit allies, unlock new abilities, and even create entirely new ones. Heck, Kirby and its pals can even link up together and form a Friend Circle to destroy any obstacles that lay in their path. Plus, with the whole game playable in four-player co-op, you’ll never have to worry about pesky AI teammates.

Burnout Paradise Remastered (PS4, Xbox One – March 16)

Best Games to Look Forward to in March 2018

While Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo have battled over the top spot for racing simulation titles for years now, Burnout used to be the undisputed champ of fast-paced, destruction-focused racing. Drive dangerously (and stylishly), earn boost, and then use said boost to knock your opponents flying off course and send you flying into first place. Despite the relative popularity of the Burnout series, its last entry was all the way back in 2008.

Well, sadly we’re not getting an all-new Burnout title in March, but we are getting a remaster of the beloved Burnout Paradise 10 years later. Xbox One X and PS4 Pro owners will be able to speed through the city in silky smooth 4K 60FPS, while standard system owners will get the 1080p treatment. You’ll also get all eight DLC packs, too, so you’ll have plenty of content to race through (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves).

Sea of Thieves (Xbox One, PC – March 20)

sea of thieves

If like me, you’ve always wanted to set sail on the high seas and see the mysteries that the vast oceans have to offer, then Sea of Thieves is the safer alternative to actually embarking on such a real-life excursion. You’ll be able to hunt down buried treasure, blow up other pirate ships with cannons, battle terrifying monsters, and take in all that sense of adventure that only sailing to exotic lands can bring.

Though Sea of Thieves can be played in single-player, it’s clear that Rare intended players to group up into crews of budding pirates for this adventure. If you’ve got a good group of other players to head out into the vast unknown of Sea of Thieves with, this should definitely be near the top of your list.

A Way Out (PC, PS4, Xbox One – March 23)

A Way Out

A lot of games allow you to play through their campaigns in co-op, and they tend to do a pretty good job of it. However, seldom do we get experiences that are almost required to be played with someone else. A Way Out is one of those games.

The game follows the story of two convicts on the run following a prison escape. You’ll have to try your hand at all manner of different gameplay types, too, from melee combat, to stealthy escapes and straight-up gunfights.

As we said, though, A Way Out seems to have been designed with the idea of co-op in mind. Fortunately, you and your friend will only need one copy of A Way Out to embark on the adventure together. And yes, this is the game that Josef Fares got very excited about in his interview with Geoff Keighley at The Game Awards last year.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (PS4, PC – March 23)

Best Games to Look Forward to in March 2018

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

The first Ni no Kuni was a bit of a cult classic when it released back in 2010. The Level-5 and Studio Ghibli RPG was adored by fans for its engaging combat, stunning visuals and animations, and abundance of charm. Now, players are about to jump into the next adventure in the form of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and while Studio Ghibli is no longer working on the title, it looks just as stunning as any of the studio’s previous work.

Fans of Wrath of the White Witch can expect to find more of the battles, exploration, and storytelling that they loved in the first game in Revenant Kingdom. However, as the subtitle implies, there’s also a kingdom-building mechanic added in to help freshen things up.

That’s because the game’s protagonist, Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, has been ousted from his spot on the throne by dark forces. As such, it’s down to Evan to accrue some allies, rebuild his kingdom, and fight back against the darkness. You’ll need to place specific buildings and recruit workers to help strengthen your kingdom in between embarking on quests to help further advance your adventure. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom looks set to offer yet another gorgeous and enormous RPG for PlayStation and PC players to sink their teeth into when it releases March 23.

Far Cry 5 (PS4, Xbox One, PC – March 27)

Far Cry 5

Rounding out the biggest and best games that March 2018 has to offer is the latest installment in Ubisoft’s shooter series, Far Cry 5. Rather than heading to a tropical island or the Himalayas as we have in the most recent mainline entries, Far Cry 5 takes us somewhere a little closer to home in Hope County, Montana. Following the uprising of a doomsday cult known as Eden’s Gate, it’s down to you to form a resistance and fight back against Joseph Seed and his followers.

As such, you can expect all the action we’ve come to know and love from the series. Plenty of bad guys to shoot, stuff to blow up, and side missions to keep us distracted and exploring the vast landscape. Oh, and the whole campaign is playable in co-op, too, so there’s that.
