We’ve collected a list of some of the most expensive and ridiculous Collector’s Editions video games have ever seen. Keep in mind that the lowest-priced edition is $250, and there may be more at that price point that aren’t included.
Many people probably remember the cat helmet from the Halo 3 Collector’s Edition, but Halo 5 takes the top spot when it comes to price. This massive collection includes a high-quality statue of both Master Chief and Spartan Locke as the centerpiece. Of course, you’ll also grab a few other goodies including; a Metal Earth Guardian Model, steelbook, Spartan Locke’s classified orders and dossiers, and digital content for a Warzone REQ bundle and the animated Halo: Fall of Reach miniseries. You’ll also get a digital download code for the game.
Fans of the Halo series got yet another epic Master Chief statue to add to their collection, although the overall package feels a bit lacking for the price.
14. Destiny 2’s Collector’s Edition – $250

Another title will soon join the pantheon of expensive Collector’s Editions, with the release of Destiny 2. The highlighting piece of this package is a snazzy Frontier Bag, that can be worn as either a backpack or messenger bag. You’ll also get a Frontier Kit that includes; a solar panel USB charger, paracord, solar blanket, and Limited Edition Steelbook case.
As if all that wasn’t enough you’ll also get a Cabal-themed Collector’s Box with a number of items, as well as the Destiny 2 Expansion Pass. It’s certainly one expensive edition but it has plenty to offer for the ultimate Destiny fan.
13. Gears of War 4 Â Collector’s Edition – $250

Yet another Collector’s Edition in which the big piece is a statue. This time around it features JD Fenix on a COG bike, wielding a lancer at the same time. The impressive statue isn’t all you get, however, as it also comes with a frag grenade key chain, lithograph, steelbook, season pass, and a copy of the game.
The Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition seems comparable to something like Halo 5, but still, for the price, it just seems a little underwhelming.
12. Titanfall Collector’s Edition – $250

Titanfall made a big splash on the Xbox One when it debuted, but before anyone was really sure about the game they could pick up this whopping collector’s edition. The centerpiece, of course, is that huge 18″ statue, showing a Titan and pilots in battle, which even features some functional LED lighting. It’s certainly a massive, impressive piece that you’d need to clear room for if picking up this edition.
Besides the statue, fans also got their hands on a 190-page artbook, as well as a Titan schematic poster. If statues are your thing, then this would have been one for you, although the price tag still seems high.
11. Titanfall 2’s Vanguard Collector’s Edition – $250

Respawn returned once again for Titanfall 2, with an equally expensive Collector’s Edition. This time around, however, the big piece wasn’t a statue, but a life-sized replica of a Vanguard Pilot’s helmet. This 1:1 scale helmet features multiple light up features including the face plat, and even has a functional tactical ARC rail system/an adjustable interior head strap and display stand.
Of course, you get a few more items as well including; a dog tag flash drive, a pilot SRS field journal, squad morale patches, and Vanguard Shemagh Scarf. Titanfall fans have had not one but two expensive Collector’s Editions to pick up now, and that helmet would not doubt look good next to the statue from the last game.
10. Mass Effect: Andromeda Collector’s Edition – $260-270

Mass Effect: Andromeda has a bit of a strange way of approaching its Collector’s Editions. BioWare released two version of the remote control Nomad, a regular for $100 and a Limited Edition for $200. The catch is, neither one comes with the game. However, through the BioWare Store you could purchase a bundle that adds on the game for another $60, or the Deluxe Edition for $70.
The Nomad itself is a pretty cool piece, with six-wheel drive with front and rear steering, as well as LEDs and a built-in camera. You’d also get an exclusive steelbook case. Other than that, anything else you get depends on whether you add on the Standard or Deluxe version of the game.
9. Final Fantasy XV: Ultimate Collector’s Edition – $270

Fans had been waiting a long, long time for Final Fantasy XV, and Square Enix had a package for those who just couldn’t get enough. Unfortunately, you’d also be paying a hefty $270 for the package. The Ultimate Collector’s Edition has quite a few things; an exclusive Noctis Play-Arts Kai figure, 192-page artbook, two exclusive steelbook cases, a copy of the film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a copy of the anime series Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV, a special soundtrack selection, as well as in-game digital content.
To add to all that hype, there was only going to be 30,000 of these editions worldwide. Luckily, Square Enix did manufacture more, although not that many, so this was one package that was always hard to come by.
8. Kingdom of Amalur: The Reckoning’s Signature Edition – $275

Kingdoms of Amalur was a brand new IP that looked like it had potential, but its Collector’s Edition release was something else. The game released with three different kinds of Collector’s Editions, each limited to a certain number. There was an $80 Special Edition limited to 2000 copies, a $200 Collector’s Edition limited to 700 copies, and, of course, this Signature Edition for $275 limited to only 300 copies.
This pricey package includes a bunch of goodies for RPG fans. First of which is a signed limited edition McFarlane Toys Prismere troll figure. With only 300 of these ever being manufactured, it’s definitely a rare, albeit expensive piece. Besides the figure, fans also got; 1 of 300 signed Todd McFarlane sketch screen-prints, original lithograph signed by Ken Rolston, parchment map of Amalur’s Faelands, Amalur themed 7-piece dice set, full set of 40 Destiny Cards, the soundtrack to Kingdoms of Amalur, and exclusive DLC.
It’s certainly a significant investment, especially for a brand new IP.
7. Dirt 3 Collector’s Edition – $300

If you want a nice, concise package for your Collector’s Edition, then Dirt 3 would have been the game for you. There was none of the little items here and there of other editions, as fans were simply given one expensive item. Admittedly, that item was pretty neat, as it came in the form of a remote-controlled Ken Block Gymkhana rallying Fiesta. The same car featured on the cover of the game, in fact.
Even with as interesting of an item as the Fiesta is, it still seems like a steep asking price for a copy of the game and one item.
6. Crysis 2’s Maximum Graphics Edition – $300

Celebrating its intensive graphical requirements, Crysis 2 came out with a bundle on PC fit for anyone looking to run the game on the best settings possible. Besides a copy of the game, you’d also receive an exclusive poster and T-shirt. The real star of the show, however, is the EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card.
This powerful card was top of the line when Crysis 2 released back in 2011 and is still moderately powerful by today’s standards. Anyone that was looking for an excuse to upgrade their PC probably found a good reason to buy the Maximum Graphics Edition, despite the steep asking price.
5. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War’s Mithril Edition – $300

Absurdly expensive Collector’s Editions aren’t only limited to games that have already released, as the upcoming Middle-Earth: Shadow of War has a pricey Mithril Edition releasing this August. This GameStop exclusive version comes crammed with items for fans, first of which is a 12″Â Tar-Goroth Balrog vs. Carnan Drake Statue. However, you’ll also receive a cloth map of Mordor, collection of exclusive lithographs, tribe sticker pack, official game soundtrack, exclusive Mithril war chest, premium case with magnetic Ring of Power, and the Gold Edition of the game.
There’s certainly no shortage of items in the Mithril Edition, but the asking price is too much for anyone but the biggest of fans.
4. Resident Evil 6’s Premium Edition – $1300

The Resident Evil series is no stranger to pricey limited editions, but Resident Evil 6’s ridiculously priced package definitely takes the cake. This package was sold exclusively through a special Japanese site that opened just for the game. The item in particular that surges up the price for the edition is an authentic replica of Leon’s leather jacket that he wears in-game. Made with real leather, this is certainly the epitome of a luxury item. Luckily, fans that managed to order one could choose between four different sizes.
Besides the jacket, you also got a copy of the game, of course, and a set of four tablet case covers. The cases were inscribed with the names Chris, Leon, Jake, and one mystery one until the game’s launch. At least Leon’s jacket is a legitimately impressive item to get, however, you can definitely pick up a leather jacket of equal quality for much less if you really want.
3. Grid 2’s Mono Edition – $180,00

Grid 2 was certainly a highly anticipated racing game, but no one quite expected the Mono Edition that Codemasters announced for the game. This expensive package rings up at £125,000, which is roughly $188,718. Anyone that purchased this edition would get quite a few goodies including; a copy of the game (of course), a Grid 2 branded racing helmet, race suit complete with boots and gloves, a PlayStation 3, and last but not least a street legal BAC Mono supercar. That’s right, if racing in the game isn’t enough, you could just take your actual race car onto the street.
Unlike other ridiculously priced special editions, the Grid 2: Mono Edition was actually purchased, by none other than Deadmau5.
2. Dying Light’s My Apocalypse Edition – $386,000

Stepping into the realm of the absurd we have Dying Light, which someone thought to have a ridiculous “My Apocalypse Edition” for. This insanely priced package came with a myriad of benefits including your very own custom built zombie-proof shelter. That’s right, because you’ll have a lot to do with that. Of course if that’s not enough for you, you’ll also get; zombie survival parkour lessons, be the zombie match in-game with the dev team, a trip to Techland in Poland to meet the team, Dying Light-branded night vision goggles and adult diapers (seriously), four signed steelbook editions of Dying Light, two top of the line Razer Tiamat headphones, a life-size Volatile figurine, and your face skinned onto a character model in-game.
There’s certainly some interesting items and opportunities in the My Apocalypse Edition, but really, not many people have a cool $400,000 just sitting around. It’s probably no surprise that we never heard anything about this one selling.
1. Saint’s Row IV’s Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition – $1 Million

If you thought the Dying Light: My Apocalypse Edition was the most ridiculous one ever created, well, you’d be sorely mistaken. For some reason, Saint’s Row IV decided to announce a $1 million package, absurdly titled the “Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition.” Of course, this was more a joke than anything, and of course, no one bought it in the end, but Volition and Deep Silver could have had to deliver.
The absurd contents of the package includes things like; a week for two at the Jefferson Hotel in Washington DC, full-size replica Dub-Step Gun, plastic surgery, a spy training day, Virgin Galactic space flight and more.
There’s certainly no shortage of impressive offerings and items for your money with this package. But we’re pretty sure there are MUCH better things you could spend $1 million on.
