Sega Sammy Holdings, a Sega subsidiary, has released its annual Sega Integrated report, which provides an overview of franchise sales for the company’s major IPs. Sonic is, unsurprisingly, leading the way with 920 million approximate franchise sales, while relative newcomer Persona has exceeded 10 million. Total War’s numbers are particularly impressive, too, at 27 million cumulative units based on just digital and retail sales alone.
Indeed, since the report is looking at total franchise sales, in almost all cases it isn’t just speaking to video game sales alone, also accounting for Pachinko machines, “amusement machines,” and toys.
The report hasn’t yet been translated from Japanese but it’s easy enough to spot the numbers on the right-hand side of the image. You’ll notice the central columns denote what hardware/software comprises the total number. Sonic, for example, includes Pachinko Machines, Digital Games, Packaged Games, Amusement Machine Sales, “Toys, etc.”
Total War’s success, meanwhile, is based only on sales of video games, as Football Manager’s 20 million cumulative sales.
