With the upcoming appearance of Joker from Persona 5 in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the ties between Nintendo and Atlus appear to be stronger than ever.

Today the house of Persona released a new video featuring Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai standing side-by-side with Morgana as he talks about his relationship with the Persona series.

If you are expecting new information on the actual Smash Bros. collaboration or on an appearance of Persona 5 on Nintendo Switch you’ll be disappointed because there is none of that. It’s basically a relaxed chat on Sakurai-san’s own appreciation for the series.

Some of the elements that he enjoys about the game are the sleek UI, the theme focusing on one color, and the all-out-attacks. Since the game is very long (like most titles by Atlus) he normally has the time to play them only once, and Persona 5 was no exception.

Yet, it’s funny to hear that he fell exactly in the same trap as I did. If you haven’t played the game, you may want to avoid reading further, because there is a mild spoiler.

Sakurai-san thought that he would have had the months between January and March to complete every character’s social link, but most of those days are actually fast-forwarded, so you don’t get to actually use them. Due to that reason, he failed to complete Yusuke’s events. That’s exactly my experience down to the same character and circumstances.

We also learn that Sakurai-san has been playing Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, which has been released at the beginning of December in Japan, and still doesn’t have a localization announced for the west.
