Ever since it was released back in 2013, the PlayStation 4 has been a huge hit with gamers. Not only did we see the powerful console give us better graphics and gameplay, new features such as the ability to take and share screenshots and in-game footage have helped make the console popular among streamers and YouTubers.

The PS4 has further been bolstered by the release of excellent exclusive games such as Bloodborne, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, to name but a few. The PS4 has enjoyed consistently strong sales since its debut and new hardware such as the PS4 Pro and PSVR have been equally popular.

Sony has just announced in its

financial results for second quarter ended September 30, 2017 that the PS4 has sold over 67.5 million units since the console was released. During the course of the second quarter, over 4.2 million consoles were sold, which is a 0.3 increase when compared to last year.
These strong figures have caused Sony to increase its forecast of sales from 18 million to 19 million units shipped in this fiscal year, which began on April 1 and will end on March 31, 2018. If this target is reached, that would mean the PS4 will have sold 79 million units by March 2018. With the Holiday season on its way, no doubt Sony will see an increase in sales over the next two months.
