Rocket League developer Psyonix announced this week that the game’s cross-platform RocketID system will be delayed until early next year.

The feature would allow players to create an in-game ID, add friends from any platform that Rocket League has released for, and create a party to enter public matchmaking with. The game currently supports cross-platform play within matchmaking with Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in one group and PC and PlayStation 4 in another, but grouping up with players from different systems was only available in private matches.

RocketID was first announced last May as part of the game’s summer roadmap, coming in July-August alongside the revamped progression system. It was then delayed until the end of 2018, but is now planned to launch in early 2019.

“The good news is that with Sony’s recent announcements regarding full cross-platform functionality, we can now make additional changes to prepare RocketID for ALL platforms should we receive permission to do so!” Psyonix wrote in its blog post. “We’re working incredibly hard to ensure that it’s as intuitive, stable, and polished as possible, before releasing it to the world.”

The post also served as a roadmap for other features and events coming to the game this fall. Rocket League on Xbox One X will receive enhanced support with 4K resolution, 60 frames-per-second, and HDR in early December. The studio plans to release the game’s second Rocket Pass and the seasonal Frosty Fest 2018 event with holiday-themed cosmetic rewards the same month.
