We got to see a doujin fan game by a young independent developer nicknamed “Kitakuou,” and it’s awesome.

Kitakuou created a prototype in which the players takes the control of a Type-00R Takemikazuchi Tactical Surface Fighter (the Muv-Luv series’ mecha) seen from a top-down perspective.

The gameplay involves fighting against hordes of BETA aliens with sort of Diablo-esque action gameplay mixed with RTS. Both melee and ranged weapons are available.

You can watch it in action below.

Further details on the concept of the game include a setting sumilar to Exogularity 2 where the BETA attack our world, strategy gameplay similar to Faraway Dawn but a little more casual.

This would be followed by the action/RTS battle in which the player is massively outnumbered with over 300 BETA on screen.

While Âge and Muv-Luv creator Kouki Yoshimune did not promise that they’d officially support the game, they certainly seemed impressed, and so was the audience.

Personally, I hope this project becomes a reality and is actually released, but we’ll have to wait and see.

That being said, when I interviewed Yoshimune-san last year, he certainly appeared eager to work with external developers and help them share their vision of the franchise.

If you’d like to know more about Âge and the Muv-Luv franchise, you can read my article from yesterday explaining all you need to know to get into one of the best visual novel series of all time.

Today’s event was rich with announcements, includin the reveal of a Muv-Luv: Alternative sequel titled Muv-Luv Integrate, the announcement of an action game code-named Project Mikhail, an update on Muv-Luv Unlimited The Day After and on the Android version of the original trilogy, the tease of a reboot of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and the announcement of a Muv-Luv Alternative anime
