Unexplained Launch Pads Are Appearing in Apex Legends

Unexplained launch pads have started to appear for players in Apex Legends near the Market area of the map. The game’s developer has not provided an official explanation for the newly placed items, but in a Reddit thread discussing the discovery Respawn employee u/lowkeydbjosh replied to the post with a smirking face emoji.

Many fans have started to speculate that the jump pads may be teasing the release of Apex’s next legend Octane. Octane has been the subject of many leaks in recent weeks and included among these have been rumors that his ultimate ability would be a deployable launch pad.

If this is the case, it is likely that the legend will be released shortly as following an accidental tease of the game’s upcoming battle pass many players have been eagerly awaiting new content.

It is unclear if the launch pads currently in the game will be removed or are permanent, but many players have already started using them in fun and creative ways.

One team combined Wraith’s portals, Pathfinder’s zip line, and the new items to create a dizzying way to traverse the arena. Another player discovered that the pads will launch throwable objects into the air.

The most prominent example of the potential of the launch pads though can be seen in this clip posted to Reddit by u/Furki1907. This player was able to use the mobility the new tool provides to surprise an enemy player and win the match.

These clips all illustrate that adding a legend to Apex that can place these pads in any location will undoubtedly bring a new level of strategy to the game.
