Fortnite 18.30 Update Adds Combat Pistol, Icy Grappler & Salvaged B.R.U.T.E Donation Boards

The Fortnite 18.30 update has just released today, adding into two new weapons into the game, as well as adding the Salvaged B.R.U.T.E into the game, to be funded via the donation boards across the map.

The news comes via popular Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey on Twitter, who revealed the new weapons with their stats. The Icy Grappler simply has the description: ‘Stick, move, and SLIDE,’ suggesting you’re going to be able to slide around when using the item. Exactly how this will work remains to be seen.

Alongside the new variant of the grappler, Fortnite 18.30 also reintroduced the Combat Pistol into the mix. The in-game description reads: ‘Semi-automatic pistol that benefits greatly from aiming down sights.’

It comes in Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary rarities, starting with a damage stat of 23 and going right the way up to 28 damage per shot. Magazine size remains at 15 across all variants, as does the fire rate at 6.75. The reload times is reduced from 1.54 on the Common Variant down to 1.26 on the Legendary.

iFireMonkey also revealed that the next item we’ll be funding via the donation boards across the map will be the mech. Players will not be choosing between the mech and something else. Instead, this will work in a similar fashion to the turrets that kickstarted the donation boards at the beginning of the season.

He provided another image as additional proof in case some players didn’t believe the controversial mechs were set to make a return.

The B.R.U.T.E. mech was added into the game as part of Fortnite’s original Season 10 (before the old map was gobbled up), and claimed it was introduced to help more casual players win matches. It did eventually get a nerf to help balance it out, but was still pretty divisive among the player base.

Finally, we also got a look at all of the new cosmetics, cosmetic variants and updates coming as part of Fortnite 18.30, which you can check out in the tweets below.

What do you think of the reintroduction of the B.R.U.T.E mech via the donation boards in Fortnite’s 18.30 update? Let us know down in the comments below.
