The "FIX PUBG" campaign comes to an end.

PUBG Corp.’s FIX PUBG Campaign has come to a close after three months. Executive Producer Taeseok Jang took to Steam, providing an in-depth look at what was achieved alongside what the developer’s plans are for 2019. The campaign began with a focus on “improving core performance of the game while fixing longstanding bugs”. According to Jang, the 100 bugs and quality of life improvements targeted were all addressed. The developer plans to open a website that allows players to submit bugs and track their progress before the end of the year.

Desync was one of the more prevalent issues plaguing PUBG. Jang writes that in cases with low ping it was caused by a bug introduced with an optimization of character movement. The Nov. 7 patch fixed this bug, although desync can still occur when high ping or high ping variance comes into play.

Matchmaking obviously has its role in this and the developer is “considering a matchmaking UI overhaul so players can more easily recognize the estimated wait time for matchmaking and the current ping.”. The overhaul will allow players “to play in their desired environment and game mode/map, even if matching takes a little longer.”.

Over 2 million PUBG accounts were banned for cheating during the FIX PUBG campaign, Jang writes. PUBG Corp. is developing its own anti-cheat solution, although it also went to the extent of working with law enforcement to arrest cheat developers in some cases. PUBG Corp. is also “finishing preparations for hardware bans to permanently remove stubborn players who refuse to play fair.”. They are said to begin “soon” and will target those “who continue to cheat on new accounts.”, the post reads.

The developer heads into 2019 with a different direction in mind. “Build stability and quality are now our most important value, and upon that base we will build new Battle Royale gameplay and new content. At first, this is likely to slow down our build cadence, but as these processes become more proficient, we hope to provide new content as fast as before, while maintaining our new stability and quality-first goal.”.

Although overshadowed by Fortnite in the Battle Royale space, PUBG continues to boast a healthy number of concurrent players on Steam. Time will tell if PUBG. Corp’s chosen direction will help the title regain some ground next year. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available on PC, Xbox One and is set to launch on PS4 this December.
