How to Change Characters in Battle in Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition brings the JRPG classic to modern systems with a graphical update and a host of new content, including new party members. You can play as any party member in battle, but you might want to change characters mid-fight for a new strategy. Here’s how to change characters in battle in Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
How to Get the Moon Selector
First things first, before you can change characters in battle you’ll need to get the Moon Selector. This item can be synthesized early on in the game, around the end of the first story arc when you reach Dahngrest. Here’s what you’ll need for it.
- 1000 Gald
- Red Lens x1 – Obtained by beating the “Red Eyes” enemies.
- Insect Horn x3 – Obtained by beating insect type enemies.
Once you have these items you’ll be able to synthesize the Moon Selector, just keep checking the Synthesis menu at the Fortune’s Market item shop and you should see it pop up.
How to Change Characters in Battle
Once you have the Moon Selector, changing characters is easy, and you won’t need to equip the item or anything.
During battle, simply open the menu by hitting triangle on PS4 (X on Switch and Y on Xbox), then hit the start button. Doing this will cycle all of your characters one slot to the left, so simply press it until the character you want to play as is in the very first slot.
Hopefully, that answers everything you need to know about how to change characters in Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
