Jedi Fallen Order: How to Change Difficulty & What’s Different

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes some inspiration from Dark Souls when it comes to combat and world traversal. Rest at a Meditation Point to heal your health, refill your Force meter and your healables, and you’ll respawn all enemies while you’re at it. Similarly, its combat is very methodical and it can be challenging to learn enemy attack patterns. To combat this, Respawn Entertainment has implemented a clever difficulty system. Here’s how to change difficulty in Jedi Fallen Order and what’s different.

To change difficulty in Star Wars Fallen Order, simply press Options to open the various menus. Then choose ‘Settings’ and then select ‘Gameplay.’ You’ll now see ‘Game Difficulty’ at the very top. Simply press X/ A on the option and then select the difficulty you want to choose.

You’ll also be able to choose your difficulty setting when starting a new game, but you’ll be free to change this at any point by using the option above, as long as you’re not in combat.

All Jedi Fallen Order Difficulty Levels

There are four difficulty options to choose from. They range from ‘Story’ which makes combat incredibly easy, through to Jedi Grandmaster which is incredibly hard. You can see all difficulty settings below:

  • Story
  • Jedi Knight
  • Jedi Master
  • Jedi Grand Master

What Do Difficulty Levels Change?

The difficulty you select doesn’t just change the amount of damage you’ll take from enemy attacks, but also how aggressive an enemy is.

It also affects the length of the parry window. This means the higher the difficulty, the more precise you’ll have to be with the timing of your parry to successfully pull one off in Fallen Order.
