Your character is one of the few things you can choose for yourself in RAD, and while the initial batch is all well and good, you’ll probably come to a point where you’re wondering how to get new characters and what the requirements are to unlock them.
After all, as great as the Valley Grrl, Jimkata and Thrasher are, you can only look at them for so long before even their zany ’80s designs start to look repetitive and bland.
Fortunately, we’re here to help.
How to Get New Characters in RAD
Referred to as Styles in-game, new characters can be unlocked by engaging in runs and earning enough points to advance through new ranks.
For example, the Skitch Style can be unlocked after achieving the first few ranks of the game, and can be used in any subsequent runs at your discretion.
As for whether they hold any advantages over the initial batch offered to you, it’s a bit unclear.
What New Characters Do in RAD
While each new character and Style certainly has a different aesthetic appeal to them, there doesn’t seem to be any discernible difference between them in terms of stats, mutation drops or critical hit rates.
This may be a bit of a bummer if you were hoping for some variety between each character when they’re played. However, it also means you can switch between characters without having to worry about any new weaknesses or drawbacks.
That should cover everything there is to know about how to get new characters.
