How to Get All Mega Evolution Stones in Pokemon Let’s Go

Mega Evolution returns in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee, albeit in a more limited and restrained form than in previous games of the series. However, you still need Mega Evolution Stones, so let’s go over how to get them, and what’s different.

Unlike X & Y where it was the primary new feature, in Let’s Go, it’s less important, but still helpful. If you have played Pokemon Let’s Go, you’ll know that there are no held items or abilities.

So, obviously, things are a little different considering in the past you needed your Pokemon to hold the mega stone, and usually, it would change its ability as well.

Instead, you merely need to possess the stone as a key item, and that will unlock the ability to mega evolve in-battle. Plus, you don’t have to worry about wasted held item slots, if you can’t hold items anyway right? /thinking

While the lack of abilities might be disappointing, a mega evolved Pokemon is still definitely stronger than its normal form, so there is no sense in not taking advantage when you can.

So let’s go over where how to get all the Mega Evolution Stones in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee, so you can evolve all of your favorites as quickly as possible.

Where to Find All Mega Evolution Stones

Most of the mega evolution stones are obtained after completing the game, but some can be obtained during the story earlier on. Let’s break down the differences

Blastoinite, Venusaurite, and Charizardite X & Y

All four of these stones can be obtained from Blue after beating the Cinnabar Island gym prior to challenging the Viridian City gym.

You must return to pallet town through the storyline to receive the key items you need to mega evolve, and in doing that, you will also receive Blastoinite, Venusaurite, and Charizardite X & Y, all the items you would need for the original Kanto starters.

Mewtwonite X & Y

Mewtwonite is a different animal. You must first complete Pokemon Let’s Go, and then head to Cerulean Cave and catch Mewtwo. Then, return to the cave after catching it, and challenge Green who will be waiting for you in the cave.

If you defeat Green, you’ll obtain both Mewtwonite X & Y, used to obtain the two different mega evolved forms of Mewtwo.

All Other Mega Evolution Stones

All the other Kanto-based Mega Evolution Stones can be found in the Indigo Plateau Pokemon Center in Pokemon Let’s Go. Look for a guy in a Slowbro suit inside the center, but bring some money because it isn’t cheap.

Each stone will cost 30,000 Pokedollars. So make sure that you’re prioritizing the ones that you’ll actually use and need first.
