Even Dupes need to relieve themselves! Of course, you’d rather work the poor devils to the bone and not waste precious resources on their wellbeing, but when a dupe has to go, a dupe has to go. That means you need an outhouse and you need to know how to empty Outhouse, so let’s go over it.
How to Empty Outhouse in Oxygen Not Included
According to the description, “Duplicants with no bathroom access will make “messes”, causing stress and spreading germs,” and you certainly don’t want that! Seriously, though, the Outhouse produces Polluted Dirt as well as Food Poisoning Germs, and the longer you leave it unemptied the more chance it has of leaving its mess on your Dupes.
To drill down on the details, a single use of the Outhouse produces 200,000 Food Poisoning germs. These germs are divided among the Duplicant, the Polluted Dirt, and the Outhouse. The breakdown is as follows:
- Duplicant: +68,500 germs
- Polluted Dirt: +95,000 germs
- Outhouse: +36,500 germs
After 15 uses you’ll need to command a dupe to empty the Outhouse. This will consume 200kg of dirt. The task falls under “Tidy errand.”
You’ll simply need to click the Outhouse and select the cleaning option, which will prompt a dupe to empty its contents if the priority is set high enough.
Additionally, you will want to place composts (refinement tab, available after first farming research) near the building so that there’s enough space for the dupe to deal with the contents.
Note that when the building is being emptied your dupes won’t be able to use it.
That should be everything you need to know about how to empty the Outhouse in Oxygen Not Included. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to search Twinfinite. We’ve listed some related content below you might find useful.
