While Mass Effect 2: Overlord is the oft-overlooked DLC as compared to the all-time great, Lair of the Shadow Broker, it’s still no slouch and is complete with a few difficult choices. If you’re here, you’re probably towards the end of the DLC and are left with the choice of what to do with David Archer, the tragic character at the center of the DLC. What Happens When You Free David in Mass Effect 2 Overlord
Freeing David in Mass Effect 2 Overlord has consequences but, honestly, it’s pretty much just all positive. While lots of choices are morally grey in Mass Effect, and have some mixed results, freeing David is just pretty much the right thing to do. Not only morally, but also pragmatically as well.
Freeing David will give you Paragon points for Mass Effect 2 and he will then be shipped off to Grissom Academy. In Mass Effect 3, David Grissom will appear again, grateful for what Shepard did, offer Shepard a new weapon, and will also contribute to War Assets assuming that the Grissom Academy mission is complete.
What Happens if You Leave David?
If you leave David, aside from getting a healthy bump to your Renegade you really don’t get any other benefit. Poor David is left behind as a science experiment and will spend the rest of his days doing what he was doing before until his mind finally gives out and he gets put down. You receive no benefit from this in Mass Effect 3.
We’d only suggest this option if you’re roleplaying, want the Renegade bump, or are just downright evil.
