Bayonetta’s Fate in Bayonetta 3 Explained

To cut straight to the chase, yes, Bayonetta does indeed seem to die at the end of Bayonetta 3. In her final fight against Singularity, both Luka and Bayonetta sacrifice themselves to save Viola, and manage to defeat Singularity in the process.

Shortly after that, a dark version of Bayonetta is resurrected, and Viola is forced to face off against her one last time. After defeating Bayonetta, she seems to properly die for good, but not before passing on a new name to Viola. The name is, of course, Bayonetta, signifying that Viola is set to take on her mantle and continue hunting demons in her stead.

After the credits roll, we also see Viola sporting new glasses just like Bayonetta did, and she’s seen accepting new tasks and assignments from Rodin. To make things feel even more final, Rodin also no longer addresses her as Viola, and starts calling her Bayonetta. It’s implied that if we get more games in the series, we’ll have Viola in the lead role instead of Cereza.

That’s all you need to know about whether Bayonetta dies in Bayonetta 3. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
