Ice Age is a children’s animated film featuring prehistoric animals. The original cast of characters include a mammoth, sabertooth tiger, a ground sloth, and a human child, all of whom learn to work together to return the young child to their family. It’s a heartwarming and surprisingly funny franchise that has held up over the years, despite many sequels and the growing list of characters. If you’ve never watched one before or have kids you’re sharing them with, here’s how to watch the Ice Age movies in chronological order.
How to Watch the Ice Age Movies in Chronological Order
Every Ice Age Movie in Order, Excluding Short Films
In total, there are six Ice Age movies. It may sound daunting and possibly confusing to keep track of, but the good news is that Blue Sky Studios didn’t release prequels. That means the order you watch them in is the same order in which they were released.
- Ice Age (2002)
- Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006)
- Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)
- Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012)
- Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
- The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022)
The other good news is that if you have a Disney+ subscription, you can watch all six films in quick succession. So, warm up some popcorn, grab some candy, and enjoy the movies.
Every Ice Age Movie in Order, Including Short Films
If you want more of the wacky shenanigans the characters of Ice Age get into, then weave in the short films. Yes, you read that right: short movies set in the Ice Age universe. In fact, there are more short films than there are of the mainline movies.
- Ice Age (2002)
- Gone Nutty (2002)
- Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006)
- No Time for Nuts (2006)
- Surviving Sid (2008)
- Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)
- Scrat’s Continental Crack-Up (2010)
- Scrat’s Continental Crack-Up: Part 2 (2011)
- Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012)
- Cosmic Scrat-tastrophe (2015)
- Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
- Scrat: Spaced Out (2016)
- The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022)
- The End (2022)
The End marks, well, the end of the Ice Age movies in chronological order, at least for now. It’s already been revealed that Ray DeLaurentis, one of the screenplay writers for The Ice Adventures of Buck Wild, is working with Disney+ on writing the screenplay for a seventh Ice Age movie. If you’re looking for more from Disney+, I Am Groot received an official trailer and Deadpool, among other R Rated movies, were also added.
