Ghost of Tsushima Legends is a brand-new multiplayer experience that includes four-player horde missions and two-player story missions. There’s lots of gear to collect, levels to rank up, and four different classes to choose from. When you boot up the new mode, the game will make you choose one of the classes and you’ll be stuck with it for a couple of missions. So if you need help picking your first class, here are the best classes ranked in Ghost of Tsushima Legends.
Now, before we dive into my personal recommendations, it’s worth noting that you can equip any type of gear to all four classes. The only thing that differs between the four of them are their special techniques. With that being said, let’s go into what we would call the lower-tiered class in the group.
#4 – Ronin
Best Classes in Ghost of Tsushima Legends
I dig Ronin’s design and his healing can prove to be helpful at times, but his ultimate ability goes unused when I’ve played as him and there are lots of other ways to heal in the survival mission maps.
You can bang on healing drums, purchase health from the shrine, use an ability to heal, or find it on the ground. And when you get downed in Ghost of Tsushima Legends, you can easily get revived in two seconds.
Ronin’s ultimate ability revives all teammates who are downed, which, you know, sounds fantastic in theory but it’s hard to properly utilize. I would much rather have a healing ultimate ability or one that can kill a couple of enemies and not one that relies on the entire team being killed in battle.
Of course, Ronin does get some really useful techniques down the line that are awesome, but as a pick for the first class, I would skip him if I were you.
#3 – Hunter
Best Classes in Ghost of Tsushima Legends
It was honestly hard to choose whether the Assassin or the Hunter would take this spot, but keeping Hunter here just makes sense.
Her schtick is that she’s very handy with a bow and arrow, with her ultimate ability allowing her to target three enemies at once and then unleash three devastating –and guaranteed– headshots.
Her initial class ability fires an arrow that stuns enemies in a small area, which is fine for crowd control purposes. One of her first perks, Executioner, can increase headshot damage and another and instantly refill your arrows.
She obviously relies a lot on using arrows to take down enemies from afar, but there are just some enemies out there that need to be taken down with up-close physical abilities.
The Hunter is great if you can keep distance and take advantage of all of her equipped techniques. And if you get close to the big grunts, maintain distance so you don’t knocked on your ass.
#2 – Assassin
Best Classes in Ghost of Tsushima Legends
If you’re the sneaky type of person who likes to stalk their prey through a bush and then go in for the kill when no one is looking, then the Assassin class will be right up your alley and has some incredible starter techniques.
His Ultimate move is called Shadow Strike and allows you to enter the shadows and strike three enemies from a distance. This move is very similar to the Samurai’s ultimate (we’ll talk about him next), but it’s performed a bit slower.
Combine that move with his Toxic Vanish class ability and you’ve already got yourself a class that can assassinate lots of foes in a short span of time. Toxic Vanish can turn you invisible for a second, allowing you to sneak attack somebody near you.
You’ll also be able to unlock techniques like Light Step, which makes you silent even while running full sprint, and another that makes stealth attacks quieter and faster.
Yup, it turns out that Assassin’s are great at assassinating! If you do decide to pick this one, just be sure to be careful in mob situations. Stealth is this class’s strong suit, so don’t rush in or you can die quickly.
#1 – Samurai
Best Classes in Ghost of Tsushima Legends
So if we are talking purely physical strength and willpower, choosing the Samurai is where it’s at. Am I being biased because I chose the Samurai first and he just happens to be my highest-ranked class? Yes. Yes, I am.
Even before you begin to unlock his techniques in his skill tree, he has the Hachiman’s Fury ultimate move that can kill three enemies in about one second or two. The triple-strike move won’t kill stronger enemies at the higher difficulty levels but it can still deal a ton of damage, plus you’ll just look really badass doing it.
At rank 1, you’ll also have his Spirit Pull class ability, which can syphon the health out of nearby enemies, raising yours in the process. If you’re in the middle of a gang of baddies, using this will ensure you keep yourself fit as a fiddle.
And the farther down you go on his skill tree, you will notice how most of the techniques either raise the Samurai’s attack or health in some way. There’s even a skill that lets you strike five times while using the ultimate.
One final reason to go with the Samurai class is that it plays very similarly to Jin Sakai in the game’s story mode. If you’ve played even a little bit of the base game, going with the Samurai will feel very familiar. And then you can try out the other classes after you rank up a few times.
No matter which class you decide to choose, they all have their strengths that can prove to be useful in the middle of stressful combat scenarios. It’s always nice to have a Ronin around to heal, and the Samurai can kick ass in an instant. Hunter’s great at chipping people away with their arrows and then even the Assassin comes in handy for quick assassinations.
Hopefully, that helped you choose the best class in Ghost of Tsushima Legends. For more tips and tricks, you can just search Twinfinite or look into our extensive Guide Wiki for the base game.
