The game is a mix of skill-based challenges, action, and even a little bit of choose your own adventure as the story can vary slightly depending on what you do.

If you enjoy the need for cooperation and communication in It Takes Two, then Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is definitely something you’ll want to check out.
Both players need to work to control one ship as they manage all of its functions and weapons to fight enemies in neon-soaked action combat.
While it may seem cute with its pixelated graphics, working together to control every aspect of the ship while making progress in the game’s combat is a big challenge and is perfect for those looking for a test of their co-op skills.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure

If you’re a fan of platformers, puzzles, and light-hearted action, then definitely consider Sackboy: A Big Adventure, especially if you have a PS5 and want to get a little current-gen co-op action in.
While you might be familiar with the LittleBigPlanet series, Sackboy: A Big Adventure changes things up by shifting the action to full 3D-platforming and some light collect-a-thon elements as well.
There are also dedicated co-op missions that will challenge players to work together as a team to solve various puzzles, just as you grew accustomed to in It Takes Two.
Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine

While Monaco isn’t as cute or wholesome as It Takes Two, it is just as colorful and will be just as challenging from a co-op perspective.
You and up to four friends will need to work together to come up with tactics that will allow you to commit high-profile heists such as bank robberies and museum raids.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

If you want to go further into the backlog of Josef Fares, the director of It Takes Two, then give Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons a shot.
For a while, this game was hard to recommend for co-op fans, mostly because it was designed for one player to control each of the two brothers in the game. However, a re-release of the game on the Switch includes a special update that allows two players to now go through the game cooperatively.
If you have a Switch, then you should absolutely give this game a shot if you’re looking for something like It Takes Two.
It was critically acclaimed back when it released in 2013 for its stellar puzzle-based gameplay and its deep story, and those elements still hold up today.
