Everything You Need to Know About Jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale

Recommended Videos

Jetpacks are finally a thing in Fortnite Battle Royale, after being pulled at the last second from an update a few months back. Of course, with these providing a new and interesting means of scaling the buildings of your opponents, players are eager to find out everything they can about jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale. Fortunately, we’re here to run you through absolutely everything you need to know to cruise around the skies in style.

The Basics of Jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale

First, let’s get the basic information out the way before we dive into the more in-depth info. Jetpacks have a legendary rarity (purple) and, as such, can be pretty tricky to get your hands on. Jetpacks also kickstart a new item type in Fortnite Battle Royale known as Backpacks. These do take up a slot in your inventory for as long as you’ve got one equipped. You can only have one backpack in your inventory at any one time, and once it’s fully consumed, it’ll be destroyed and removed from your inventory.

How Long Jetpacks Are in Fortnite Battle Royale For

Currently, Epic Games has yet to put a set date on how long we’ll have a chance of bagging jetpacks from chests in Fortnite Battle Royale. However, interestingly, this is a limited-time item, so it seems highly unlikely that they’ll become a staple item. At least, not for now, anyway.

How to Get Jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale

According to the content update notes, you’ll only ever get a jetpack out of treasure chests, and with a purple rarity, you’re going to need a bit of luck on your side to bag one on your first try. Once you’ve got one, simply use X on Xbox One, Square on PS4, or E on PC to pick up the item as you would anything else.

How to Use Jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale

With the rocket-powered ability of flight at your disposal in Fortnite Battle Royale, you’ll now want to know exactly how to get that jetpack propelling you through the air. Simply jump as you normally would, and while in mid-air, press the jump button again and this will trigger the jetpack into working. Now, simply use the left stick to navigate around and you should be all set.

Limitations and Other Things to Be Aware Of

One of the main limitations of jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale is the inability to enter targeting mode while in the air. When using a controller, trying to enter targeting mode will instead have you trigger the jetpack, so don’t get too ahead of yourself while flying about.

Further, you’re only able to use the jetpack for a limited amount of time before it needs recharging. This’ll happen when the jetpack is not in use.

That’s about everything you need to know regarding jetpacks in Fortnite Battle Royale. We’ll be sure to update this post with more info if we find anything else noteworthy for you. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
