How to Turn on Pacifist Mode & What it Does in Fallout 76
Once you reach level 5 in Fallout 76, you’ll unlock the ability to engage in Player vs Player combat, which means you can damage other players not on your team, and they can damage you as well. Luckily, if you want to avoid PvP combat, we’ve got you covered with this guide on how to turn on Pacifist mode & what it does in Fallout 76.
What is Pacifist Mode?
Pacifist Mode is an option you can toggle to remove the possibility of harming other players. This means you cannot start engagement with them and will not risk killing them or becoming Hostile or Wanted. You also will not receive any PvP oriented messages from the game.
However, keep in mind that other players can still damage you, but with Pacifist Mode activated they will do significantly reduced damage. Any player that attacks you will be marked Hostile and will show up on your compass and map.
The amount of damage dealt when Pacifist Mode is turned on in Fallout 76 really is minimal, and once the first shot has been fired, you won’t take any further damage until you return fire, or your vice-versa if you’re shooting a player with Pacifist Mode enabled.
Pacifist Mode reduces the risk of them being able to kill you, and anyone that does kill you will automatically become Wanted, letting other players track them down. This the perfect mode if you want to play Fallout 76 without worrying about accidentally shooting other players in the world and want to opt out of as much player vs player activity as possible.
How to Turn on Pacifist Mode
Remember that PvP isn’t fully unlocked in Fallout 76 until you reach level 5. Once you hit that level, turning on Pacifist Mode is quick and easy. Open your Map by pressing Menu on the Xbox One or Options on the PlayStation 4.
From there, open the Main Menu by pressing LB on the Xbox One or L1 on PlayStation 4 to select Settings and you’ll be able to turn on Pacifist Mode from the Game submenu – it’s as simple as that. You can always go back into this menu to toggle it off whenever you need to as well.
If you had been hoping to play Fallout 76 as a solo experience, then this is the best thing you can do to ensure other players don’t impact your exploration of the West Virginian wasteland. However, keep in mind it won’t stop other players from following you around or taking items from the same containers that you would. It simply nullifies damage to a large degree.
Will you be opting out of PvP combat or taking on other players head on? Either way, that’s all you need to know to essentially turn off PvP as you explore the new wasteland in Fallout 76. For more tips and tricks on surviving the West Virginia Wasteland, be sure to check back here at Twinfinite.
