Every One For All User & Quirk Power in My Hero Academia, Explained

Here's all the powers Deku can use through One for All.

In My Hero Academia, Deku can tap into multiple powers, as his Quirk, One For All, has a stockpiling ability from each previous user. This makes One For All one of the most versatile and powerful Quirks in existence, as Deku can utilize every ability held by past vestiges. Here is every One For All user and quirk power in My Hero Academia.

First User: Yoichi Shigaraki

Quirk: Stockpile / One For All Origins

The first user of One for All is Yoichi, the younger brother of All for One. After he is presumed to be Quirkless, Yoichi’s brother forcefully implanted a Quirk within him, causing the discovery that Yoichi did indeed have a Quirk. Its power? Nothing other than the ability to transfer his power to others. When his Quirk merged with the Quirk AFO implanted within him, this created what became known as One For All.

Sadly, Yoichi was too physically weak to make proper use of his new abilities. Instead, he goes down a path of hoping to develop strength over each new user, hoping One For All will one day grow strong enough to defeat his brother. Deku isn’t shown utilizing this part of his Quirk all that much, as he is an active user. However, during the Heroes Rising movie, he does use this power to temporarily pass One For All to Katsuki Bakugo for a brief time.

Second User: Kudo

Quirk: Gearshift

Kudo was the leader of a resistance group against All For One during the peak era of his power. After originally having planned to kill Yoichi due to his blood relation to the villain, Kudo instead had a change of heart and rescued Yoichi – who in turn thanked him by passing down his power.

Kudo’s Quirk is named Gearshift, which enables him to manipulate the speed of objects whilst ignoring the fundamentals of physics. Like other abilities in One for All, Gearshift grew exponentially, and Deku can use it in ways that were previously unavailable to Kudo. Deku makes use of Gearshift through One For All to speed himself up, greatly buffing his mobility and agility in combat. In one particular crucial fight, Deku even manages to move so quickly using Gearshift that he breaks a sound barrier!

Third User: Bruce

Quirk: Fa Jin

Bruce is a member of Kudo’s resistance group led into battle against All For One, playing a sidekick role to the leader. He was one of the members involved in Kudo’s initial assassination attempt and rescue of Yoichi Shigaraki and was there to see Kudo discover how the Quirk operates. Eventually, Kudo passes the One For All Quirk on to Bruce, who adds his Quirk, Fa Jin, to the list of stockpiled abilities.

Fa Jin enables the user to build up kinetic energy and then release it in a powerful burst that amplifies their capabilities. Deku showed off the use of Fa Jin on multiple occasions, such as in his fight against Lady Nagant, in which he combined the power with Smokescreen to give himself an upper hand. Essentially, this amplifies many of the other powers of All for One and lets Deku be both stronger and faster.

Fourth User: Hikage Shinomori

Quirk: Danger Sense

The third user of One For All, Hikage Shinomori, had a rather interesting Quirk in the form of Danger Sense. At the cost of causing the user pain, Danger Sense, as the name suggests, enables its user to sense nearby threats and impending danger. Hikage received One For All at the young age of 22, knowing that he was far too weak and under-trained to take on the likes of All For One.

For this reason, Hikage chose to spend the next eighteen years of his life in the forest, preparing the power of One For All for the next user. Like previous users, due to having a Quirk when he received One For All, Hikage’s body was pushed to the limit, and he passed away at the age of 40 – but not before passing the power on to Daigoro Banjo. In fact, when Deku makes contact with Hikage, it is none other than this individual who warns him about the dangers of transferring One For All to a Quirk user.

Fifth User: Daigoro Banjo

Quirk: Blackwhip

Daigoro Banjo, also known under the Pro Hero title ‘Lariat’, is often one of the more memorable One For All vestiges to fans. This is largely due to the fact that his Quirk is the first power that Deku taps into. In the past, All For One attempted to steal One For All from Daigoro Banjo but ultimately failed. However, after being trapped underneath some rubble, Daigoro was fatally wounded. Due to this, Banjoi chose to pass his Quirk along to his junior colleague, En Tayutai, through his blood, before ultimately passing away.

Daigoro Banjo’s Quirk is titled Blackwhip and provides him with the power to manifest long-range tendrils from his body. Blackwhip has quite a lot of versatility in terms of use, but Deku is commonly seen utilizing this power to restrain enemies or to assist in mobility by propelling and swinging himself forward. While Deku initially froze up while trying to use Blackwhip, he’s gained control over it and relies on it heavily in combat, eventually using it in sync with other key One For All abilities.

Sixth User: En Tayutai

Quirk: Smokescreen

In comparison to some of the other previous One For All vestiges, En remains more of a mystery. Following receiving the quirk from Daigoro Banjo, En eventually faced a similar encounter with All For One in which the villain attempted to steal the One For All Quirk from him. As a result of the fight and failure by All For One, En Tayutai was brutally cut in half, losing his life. However, before passing away, he was able to extend One For All to the next generation of users by providing Nana Shimura with some of his hair.

En Tayutai’s Quirk is known as Smokescreen, enabling the user to generate large amounts of smoke. This can be used to obscure vision and hide from enemies. While this Quirk stands on its own as a bit of a double-edged sword, One For All enhances its utility significantly by pairing the ability with Danger Sense, as done by Deku.

Seventh User: Nana Shimura

Quirk: Float

Nana Shimura is All Might’s mentor and a previous friend of Gran Torino, one of Deku’s mentors. She had a son, Kotaro, but abandoned him out of fear of All for One. This led Kotaro to become hateful of heroes, and his son, Tenko Shimura, for wanting to be like heroes. Tenko, also known as Tomura Shigaraki, ultimately destroyed his family with his quirk and became the All for One’s puppet – linking Nana Shimura to several critical plot points and characters.

Float is a fairly simple quirk that lets the user simply float around in the air. However, combined with the actual strength part of One for All, Nana was a hugely successful hero and could keep up with the speeds of Gran Torino’s Jet Quirk. Unlike previous vestiges, Nana Shimura was the first One for All holder to hand-pick the next user for the ability ahead of time. She chose to bestow the power upon the Quirkless Toshinori Yagi, who went on to become the Pro Hero, All Might.

Eighth User: All Might

Quirkless

All Might, the Symbol of Peace and Number One hero for part of My Hero Academia is the eighth wielder of One for All. Originally Quirkless, All Might was the first holder to have no previous power, finally letting One for All begin to rise to its full potential. Equipped with One for All, All Might quickly became a legend in the world of Pro Heroes, even inspiring those on the other side of the world with his immense strength and smile in the face of danger.

Following life-lasting wounds gained in a fight against the notorious All for One, All Might’s body couldn’t maintain the use of One for All the way it used to. After witnessing the Quirkless Deku risking it all to save someone in trouble, All Might saw hope in the youngster as the next individual to fill the responsibility of One for All’s quest, passing the Quirk down to Deku and setting up the story of events to follow throughout the series.

Ninth User: Deku

Quirk: Quirkless

Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, is the ninth user of One for All. His tenacity and heroism shown against a threat before he even has a Quirk to aid him inspired All Might. As a result, the Number One Hero passed on the One for All torch and trained Deku to be the next prodigy to take down All for One, ending his reign for good.

While Deku didn’t have a Quirk before One for All, he does happen to be the only user of One for All who can use Quirks from previous users. Combined with his tactical mind, and keen eye for detail, he’s able to overcome almost every enemy he’s encountered by learning to analyze and adapt to each situation.

Temporary User: Katsuki Bakugo

Quirk: Explosion

While not a permanent holder of One for All due to the transfer being incomplete, Katsuki Bakugo does gain temporary access to this power during the My Hero Academia Heroes Rising movie. However, this gives Bakugo and Deku enough time to team up together in an epic fight, utilizing their combined powers of One for All to take down the villain Nine.

Bakugo’s standard Quirk, Explosion, gained a significant boost in power under these circumstances. Much like when Deku begins to tap into the powers of One for All, Bakugo gained a crackling glow of energy around him, but rather in a vibrant teal such as Deku’s Variant, Katsuki’s were instead a fiery, explosive orange – a perfect reference to his natural power.

That’s every All for One User and Quirk Power in My Hero Academia. How do you think Deku will utilize these quirks to save the day? Let us know your predictions in the comments below!
