Is Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Open World? Answered

The answer to this question is pretty complicated. If we’re being technical, no, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is not open world in the traditional sense.

You cannot travel everywhere at any time. You cannot go from one side of the game’s world to the other without having to do any travelling or loading.

However, the game is instead made up of various open areas that act like any other open world would. You can explore at your own pace, take on quests as and when you get them, and engage in battles as you come across enemies.

It’s very similar to the areas in games like Borderlands 3 or Kingdom Hearts 3, if you’re familiar with them. The areas you’re playing in may feel like an open world, but overall you can’t really call the game that.

That does mean that there’s some more definition between areas and you’re led to certain places as the story progresses. For some people, it’ll be great, but for others it’ll be a little restrictive.

Is Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Open World?
