How to Use the Drill Head in Astroneer

Recommended Videos

As you explore the vast stretches of space in Astroneer, you may come across a fairly barren-looking planet. Here, you’ll find black rock with titanium ore that grows within it under base buildings. If you want to get the ore within, you’ll need to use the drill head to break it up. Here’s what you need to know to use the drill head in Astroneer.

First things first, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got a crane, and the drill head researched. Once you’ve done this, you’re going to need to make a rover or a truck in Astroneer, and use your vehicle bay to place the crane on top of it. We’re almost there.

Next, to make the actual drill, you’ll need to use your 3D printer. Select the drill head from the options and then attach it to your crane. With the drill head attached to your crane, all you now need to do is hop in the seat of the vehicle and use your mouse to highlight the square of terrain you want to use the drill on. And that’s all there is to it.

Other players have suggested that this handy attachment could be auto attached to the front of vehicles prior to an update, but this doesn’t seem to be the case at the time of writing. If anything changes, we’ll update this post and let you know.
