New Legend: Horizon

Apex Legends Season 7

Dr. Mary Somers is a brilliant astrophysicist who went on a space voyage in search of a way to solve the energy crisis on Olympus.

That mission went horribly wrong, and now she’s returning to Olympus with a technological mastery over gravity. She’s joining the Apex Games as Horizon to help her reach her goals.

Horizon’s three abilities bring gravity-controlling action to Apex Legends Season 7. Her tactical allows her to place a device that launches allies and enemies straight up into the air, while her passive gives her more control over her movement in mid-air.

Her ultimate ability allows her to throw her robot companion NEWT to a location of her choosing, creating a micro black hole that sucks enemies into one spot.

Horizon is perfect for locking down the less mobile Legends while giving her team the ability to rotate effectively from high above the battlefield.

New Map: Olympus

Apex Legends Season 7 Map

Season 7 is adding a new map to Apex Legends for the first time since Season 3. Olympus is a city located high above the clouds, and it’s completely different from the other two maps in many ways.

Olympus feels much more like a civilian city. It’s filled with parks, city plazas, laboratories, and docking bays.

A few of the most notable points of interest are the towers at Velvet Oasis, the dock’s Arcadia Supercarrier, the loot-dense Rift Aftermath and Autumn Estates, and the fancy Bonsai Plaza.

All of the points of interest blend together well, and they aren’t too far from one another. This is especially true since there are new ways to traverse the map.

The Phase Runner portals can teleport players around Olympus in a ring to warp from place to place, while the new vehicle can bring whole squads across the map in seconds.

New Vehicle: Trident

Say goodbye to those matches where you’re forced to constantly run from one edge of that map to the other. The Trident solves this annoyance in Apex Legends Season 7.

Tridents are visible on the map, and tall pillars of light shine out of them before they’re used for the first time, so they’re hard to miss.

This hovercraft can carry full squads from place to place while causing real damage along the way. Certain abilities like Caustic’s Nox Canister, Rampart’s turret, and Gibraltar’s dome shield can be attached to Tridents for more offensive and defensive capabilities.

The vehicles also can’t be destroyed unless they’re driven off the map. They can, however, be temporarily slowed down or rendered immobile with arc stars or Wattson’s fences.

Clubs

Apex Legends is getting a brand new Clubs feature in Season 7. This new tab will be accessible from the lobby screen, and it’ll allow players to form a community of up to 30 people.

The idea behind Clubs was to create a more intimate version of the Networks in Titanfall 2. Clubs are more narrowed down and focused, with specific tags that describe each community.

Players can select up to five hashtags to describe their Club so that it can be easily found in searches by other like-minded players. These tags include #TeamPlayersOnly, #BeginnersWelcome, #MicRequired, #LGBTQIA+Welcome, and more.

The goal here is to find and meet players with similar goals and reduce the necessity of having to play with random players when you’re alone online.

Clubs are crossplay enabled, and members can all be invited to squad up at once, if they’re not already in a squad or a match.

Steam Version

Respawn added crossplay functionality between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation not too long ago, and the game is now branching out to other platforms.

Apex Legends will be available on Steam later today with cross-progression with Origin. Any PC players that switch to the Steam version will retain all of their progress, cosmetics, and experience.

Apex Legends is also coming to Nintendo Switch, but just a bit later. The release was delayed until 2021, but it will have all of the same functionality as the other platforms when it arrives.

New Battle Pass

Apex Legends Season 7 Battle Pass

With every new season comes a new Battle Pass. Apex Legends Season 7 is bringing legendary skins for Octane, Wraith, the Prowler, and the R99 alongside other rewards.

As usual, the regular Battle Pass will cost 950 Apex Coins, while the Battle Pass Bundle will cost 2,800 Apex Coins.

Purchasing the bundle will immediately unlock the first 25 levels of the pass, giving you access to special skins for Horizon, Pathfinder, Bloodhound, Revenant, and Wraith.

This season’s pass is also adding new sprays, skydive animations, trinkets, and other cosmetics.

Simplified Battle Pass Progression

The progression system for the Battle Pass is being tweaked just a bit. Now, instead of earning experience to level up the pass, you’ll be earning stars.

Each challenge will give you a certain amount of stars for completing them. Earning 10 stars is equal to gaining one level of the pass, so you’ll level up the pass every time you gain 10 stars from completing challenges.

Here are a few other changes to keep in mind as well:

  • There are no more recurring Weekly Challenges, but those rewards have been rolled into the revamped Daily Challenges.
  • Unique Weekly Challenges can still be completed at any time during the season.
  • The XP Challenge now awards 1 star for each 10,000XP earned. The premium Battle Pass boosts now increase progress by up to 50% by boosting how much XP gets counted for the challenge.

Weapon Adjustments

Apex Legends Season 7 Weapons

The care package weapons and fully-kitted gold weapons are being swapped once again. This season, the R99 is returning to the regular loot pool while the Prowler is being sent into the care package.

Here’s the list of which fully-kitted weapons have been swapped in and out:

Removed:

  • Devotion
  • Mastiff
  • Triple Take
  • Flatline
  • Volt

Added:

  • Wingman
  • Sentinel
  • Havoc
  • G7
  • Alternator

Several guns have received buffs or nerfs. The most noticeable adjustments include lower headshot damage for the Hemlock, faster L-Star venting cooldown, and a pure damage increase to charged Sentinels so that shields are irrelevant in the damage calculations.

The Selectfire hop-up has also been removed, with the Quickdraw hop up coming in to replace it. The Quickdraw reduces ADS time and hip fire spread for the RE-45 and the Wingman.

Legend Balances

Several balance changes have been made across the roster for this season. The most notable adjustments are for Caustic, Loba, and Pathfinder.

Caustic’s gas will no longer blur any players’ vision, but now, it does more damage. Loba’s Black Market now allows players to take as much ammo as they want without taking up slots for the ability.

Additionally, Pathfinder’s hitbox has been adjusted once again, while his grappling hook cooldown has been buffed.

Game Meta Changes

Three important gameplay changes have been made for Apex Legends Season 7. Firstly, weapons are no longer available to craft in Replicators, as they’ve been replaced with Shield Batteries.

Another significant change is that Evo Armor level up requirements have been increased. This change was made to reduce the number of players with red armor at the end of matches.

These are the new requirements:

  • Level 0 -> 1 : 100 damage (from 50)
  • Level 1 -> 2 : 150 damage (from 125)
  • Level 2 -> 3 : 300 damage (from 250)
  • Level 3 -> 4 : 750 damage (from 500)

Last, but not least, the Ring will now do less damage to players. These are the new damage numbers as of Season 7:

  • Ring 1: 2% per tick (same)
  • Ring 2: 3% per tick (from 5%)
  • Ring 3: 5% per tick (from 10%)
  • Ring 4: 10% per tick (from 20%)
  • Ring 5: 10% per tick (from 20%)
  • Ring 6: 15% per tick (from 25%)
  • Ring 7: 15% per tick (from 25%)

That’s everything you need to know about what’s new in Season 7 of Apex Legends. A lot of significant changes were made, so it’s a lot to remember, honestly.

Do your best to take in all of this new info to get the upper hand once you join the fight in Ascension.
