A New Legend (Rampart)

Apex Legends Season 6

Ramya “Rampart” Parekh is a skilled modder who joins the Apex Games thanks to an invite from Titanfall’s mercenary, Kuben Blisk. After her mod shop burns down, she’s forced to fight in the Games as a new Legend.

Rampart’s three abilities make her suited for both offensive and defensive situations in Apex Legends Season 6.

Her Passive Ability, Modded Loader, gives her an increased magazine and heat capacity with faster reloads/recharges when using LMGs or her minigun.

This compliments her Tactical Ability, Amped Cover, which provides a shield wall that blocks incoming enemy shots while amping outgoing shots.

Rampart’s Ultimate Ability places down her stationary minigun, Sheila, for any teammate to use. She’s able to rain down fire while also protecting her squad, so it might be a bit tough to get a good shot in on her.

World’s Edge Map Update

Apex Legends Season 6

Apex Legends Season 6 is bringing major map changes for World’s Edge. Design Director Jason McCord discussed the updates just last week.

The design team focused on the following key points this season as they added three new Points of Interest:

  • More (and improved!) play on the lava side of the map
  • Better options for rotations out of some particularly sticky chokepoints
  • An interesting new map mechanic to promote some new combat scenarios.

The Launch Site, Countdown, and Staging areas were added alongside new pathways and cut-throughs in order to facilitate better flow in matches while keeping things interesting.

New Weapon (Volt)

Apex Legends Volt

Strangely, this hasn’t been mentioned much, but a new weapon is coming to the game in Season 6. Volt is a new SMG that packs an electric punch.

Titanfall fans may recognize this one, as it was first seen in that game. It’s described as an “energy SMG” in Titanfall 2, so it’s highly likely that it’ll be using Energy ammo when it arrives in Apex Legends.

Crafting

Apex Legends Season 6 Crafting

Crafting is a new gameplay feature coming to Apex Legends Season 6. Players will be able to extract materials from devices found around the map in each match in order to craft certain items.

There will be crafting stations called Replicators littered throughout the map that can be used to create attachments, ammo, guns, and more. Some craftable items will rotate in and out, while others will be permanent.

The items available to be crafted can always be seen on the game mode selection screen, or the map screen. You can check out this post on the official site for even more details.

Being able to create items instead of constantly searching for them can definitely come in handy.

Sprays

Apex Sprays

This may not be the most significant new feature, but it’s a novel one nonetheless. Sprays are also being added in Season 6.

These Holo-Sprays will allow players to express themselves with their Legends mid-match, just the same as in many other multiplayer games. They can be obtained as players complete the new Battle Pass.

New Battle Pass

Apex Pass

The Apex Legends Season 6 Battle Pass is bringing more of what fans have come to expect. It’s rewarding players with skins, banners, skydive emotes, sprays, and more.

Getting started on the Battle Pass will cost you 950 Apex Coins, and it’ll grant you three Rare skins for Mirage, Octane, and Bangalore right away.

You can also spend 2800 Apex Coins if you want a 25-level head start along with the Legendary Built for Speed Pathfinder skin.

Armor Overhaul

Shields

Armor is changing in a huge way this season. Evo Armor was introduced a few months ago, and now, every piece of armor that players pick up will be an Evo, no matter the color. Gold ones will still exist separately, though.

Players will drop into the game with a 0 charge Evo Armor, with the ability to level it up to white, blue, purple, then red from the very start.

Armor health will also be lowered overall by 25 for each Armor in Apex Legends Season 6. Additionally, the new requirements to level up the Armors will be the following:

  • Damage to white: 50
  • Damage to blue: 125
  • Damage to purple: 250
  • Damage to red: 500

Weapon Adjustments

Weapons

Fully-kitted gold guns and care package weapons are rotated every season, and this time around, these are the fully-kitted weapon swaps:

Removed:

  • DMR
  • Hemlok
  • Spitfire
  • EVA-8
  • RE-45

Added:

  • Devotion
  • Mastiff
  • Triple Take
  • Flatline
  • Volt

In addition to the above, the R99 SMG has replaced the Devotion as a care package weapon. The Devotion will now return to its regular, non-gold form for Season 6 as a regular loot drop.

Several guns also received nerfs or buffs, and you can check out all the details in the patch notes.

Legend Balances

Rampart

As expected, Apex Legends Season 6 also brings buffs and nerfs to the Legends themselves. This time, there was a focus on the Scout class (Pathfinder, Bloodhound, and Crypto).

The three Scouts are all receiving big buffs. Starting now, they can all use Beacons to see where the Ring will close next, just like Pathfinder.

To offset the loss of the character’s unique skill, Pathfinder’s Ultimate Ability cooldown will be reduced by 10 seconds each time a Beacon is used, down to 60 seconds of cooldown time at best.

Bloodhound actually got buffed the most, with the following changes:

  • Beast of the Hunt duration extension 5s → [5s – 15s] based on remaining duration
  • Eye of the Allfather CD during Beast of the Hunt: 25s → 6s
  • Eye of the Allfather total use time during Beast of the Hunt: 1.8s → 0.9s

Lastly, Crypto can instantly activate respawn beacons with his drone. It also has 30 more HP, but a larger hitbox. Its EMP will now slow teammates down as well.

To see all of the other minor character changes, be sure to check out the patch notes.

Season 6 is going live tomorrow, and that’s everything you need to know about the new changes coming to Apex Legends.
