5 Best Overwatch League Player Performances From Stage 4 Week 1

LiNkzr – HOUSTON OUTLAWS – WIDOWMAKER

LiNkzr, widowmaker, houston outlaws, overwatch league

Arguably the best Widowmaker player in the league at the moment, LiNkzr had a fantastic week as his signature hero against London Spitfire on Thursday and then Boston Uprising on Friday.

During the Boston Uprising game, LiNkzr put up some amazing stats including 31 total critical hit kills with 17% critical hit accuracy, 38 final blows, 52 eliminations, and over 25,000 damage done as the hero. An impressive moment can be seen below where he bops back and forth in a corridor on King’s Row to get three rapid-fire elims.

His best game, however, was against London Spitfire, where he got even more impressive stats including 40 critical hits, 59 final blows, a staggering 89 eliminations, with an insane amount of damage done at just under 40,000. It should be stated that these sorts of stats are absolutely next level with Widow, especially considering LiNkzr is going up against his fellow best players in the world during these matches.

To put it simply, any opponent should be worried if LiNkzr is playing Widow on the enemy team.

ARCHITECT – SAN FRANSISCO SHOCK – GENJI

San Franscico Shock DPS player Architect had a great game as Genji against Seoul Dynasty on Friday, helping his team go 3-1 for the win to put them at sixth place in the standings at the time of writing.

It’s worth noting he has 40 eliminations, 31 final blows, and almost 18,000 total damage this game, and his most impressive figure from that match is a total of 17 Dragonblade kills with Genji’s ult.

A couple memorable plays can be seen above and below. First, his enemy placement awareness was on point to pop-up on Fleta playing Widow for a surprise reflect. Secondly, below we see one of the many uses of Architect’s Dragonblade that netted him kills, where he finishes of the enemy Zenyatta and Brigette even after being stunned.

Architect also played very well as Widowmaker during an earlier match against Los Angeles Gladiators on Wednesday, showing off some fancy flicks and showy grappling snipes.

While San Fransisco Shock currently lies at sixth place in the overall standings, Architect proves to be a powerful player who could help them climb the ranks to end off the final stage into the playoffs in July.

AGILITIES – LOS ANGELES VALIANT – PHARAH

Agilities is well-known for his skills on Genji, but last week his remarkable plays as Pharah made him stand out in stage four week one.

His best game was against Seoul Dynasty on Wednesday where Valiant won a close 3-2 series. Agilities had some impressive stats including 17,000 damage done, 26 final blows, and 37 eliminations, but stood out because of his use of Pharah’s ult. Throughout the match he had 13 barrage kills, with an average of 3.9 kills per use. If you have been struggling to get Pharah’s Death from Above trophy, Agilities in this match was making it look like it’s the easiest trophy in the game.

We can see this in action above where Agilities gets a 3K while also killing off the enemy Pharah who was ulting at the same time.

Agilites best play of the week can be seen above, where his use of the barrage won Valiant the team fight that would pull them ahead to win the entire match 3-2.

JAKE – HOUSTON OUTLAWS – BRIGITTE

Stage four week one marked the first week Brigitte could be officially played in the Overwatch League, and Houston Outlaws player Jake gave her a very warm welcome with how well he played her against Boston Uprising on Friday.

Brigitte is allowing Overwatch League teams to get creative with new team comps, since she is so good at shutting down high mobility characters and tanks that require consistent accuracy to win 1v1 situations. Ultimately, if your use of her stun is on point then the rest of her kit will help you finish off almost every character, and Jake was amazing this week by landing stun after stun to finish off the squishies.

For example in the clip above, Jake stuns an enemy Tracer and is therefore able to combo her before she had a chance to blink. Not to mention he then finished the clip with another 2K in just a couple seconds.

Then again on Hanamura he stuns Tracer to finish her with a melee/Rocket Flail combo and boxes in NotE as baby D.Va in a side room where she had absolutely no chance of getting out alive.

It would also be an injustice to not mention how great Jake played as one of his signature heroes Pharah against London Spitfire on Thursday, especially on the Garden stage of Lijiang Tower. The crowd went absolutely wild when Jake unleashed a massive barrage on the entire enemy team in a Grav, killing five with only Mercy getting away.

Players like Jake and LiNkzr are proving there is a reason Houston Outlaws now lie at the top of the Overwatch League standings due to their consistent and stellar performances.

LIBERO – NEW YORK EXCELSIOR – PHARAH

Even though New York Excelsior dropped in the Overwatch League standings to fourth place at the end of last week, Libero still had a great performance as Pharah on Thursday, helping his team win 3-0.

With impressive stats like over 12,000 damage done, 32 eliminations, and 22 of those final blows against only five deaths, Libero was a standout this week due to his whopping 23.68% critical hit accuracy as Pharah during that Thursday match.

Essentially, almost a fourth of the time Libero shot a rocket it was landing directly on an enemy. If you are looking for proof of this in action, just see above where he takes out a flying Pharah and times a perfect ult alongside a Grav for another 4K.

He also had some memorable plays as Hanzo this week, like above where he got some sneaky and crucial picks that allowed his team to end Florida Mayhem’s push on Objective A of King’s Row. It’ll be interesting to see pro Hanzo players like Libero adjust to Hanzo’s new kit in the coming weeks to see how the changes translate to League matches.
