During Walt Disney’s latest financial earnings call, CEO Bob Iger took the stand to talk a little bit about the success of Disney+ and some of the upcoming exclusive content that will be coming to the paid streaming service.
Iger confirms that the second season for Star Wars: The Mandalorian will be premiering on Disney+ sometime in October of 2020. We already knew that the short series starring Pedro Pascal was renewed for more episodes this year, but now we have a clearer timeline.
During the call, it was also confirmed that due to the popularity of a certain green little baby, you can expect to see much more Baby Yoda consumer products hitting retailers in the coming months.
As for those three upcoming Marvel spin-off shows, Iger mentions in the call that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be premiering in August on Disney+ and WandaVision will be coming in December. No timeframe was mentioned concerning Loki, the series starring Tom Hiddleston, but it’s expected to release sometime in 2021.
And as for one more tidbit of information, Iger also mentions that the launch of Disney+ has been going pretty well, calling it “enormously successful” with the subscription service “exceeding even our greatest expectations. As we reported previously, we had more than 10 million sign-ups for Disney+ by the end of day one and we ended the quarter with 26.5 million paid subscribers.”
You can look forward to a ton of Disney-related media this year as Black Widow is set to premiere on May 1 and the live-action remake of Mulan will be out on March 27.
While you wait for more Baby Yoda merch, you can pre-order this life-size figure out right now if you’re willing to shell out some major cash.
