Humankind is a new 4X grand strategy game from Amplitude and Sega, and while it bears a lot of similarities to Sid Meier’s Civilization, it introduces a few new mechanics of its own to distinguish itself from the competition and helps to keep the genre fresh. Here’s how to change the end conditions in Humankind.
Changing the End Conditions in Humankind
By default, a game of Humankind will end after 300 turns. At this point, the player with the most amount of fame will win. However, you’ll quickly find that 300 turns is way too short and it’s barely enough to get you into the Early Modern Era. Thankfully, you can change the end conditions to make games last longer, or even change the pace to increase the number of turns required for a game to end.
From the game settings menu, you can choose the end conditions from a drop-down menu and choose from the following: Default, Last Human Standing, Time Limit, and Space Race. We’ll run through each of these down below.
- Default
With the default settings, the game will come to an end when one of the following criteria is met:
- Reaching the last turn.
- Earning every Contemporary Era Star.
- Completing the Technology tree.
- Eliminating all the other Empires.
- Vassalizing all the surviving Empires.
- Sending a mission to Mars.
- Rending the world unfit for human life.
2. Last Human Standing
- Reaching the last turn.
- Eliminating all the other Empires.
- Vassalizing all the surviving Empires.
- Rending the world unfit for human life.
3. Time Limit
- Reaching the last turn.
- Rending the world unfit for human life.
4. Space Race
- Reaching the last turn.
- Sending a mission to Mars.
- Rending the world unfit for human life.
The victory conditions cannot be changed; once the game ends, it’ll calculate which player had the most amount of fame accrued, and that player will be declared the winner. This means that even if you happen to be decimated or the game ends, there’s a chance that you could still rank pretty highly if you’ve done well prior to that.
That’s all you need to know about how to change the end conditions in Humankind. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
