The Walking Leaf is a rare bug you can catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons starting from July in the northern hemisphere. Walking Leaf Seasonality & Spawn Times
The Walking Leaf can only be caught during the following months for each hemisphere.
- Northern Hemisphere: July – September
- Southern Hemisphere: January – March
During these months, the Walking Leaf will only spawn during the hours of 8am – 5pm on your island. Outside of these hours, you won’t find a Walking Leaf anywhere no matter how hard you try.
Catching the Walking Leaf in Animal Crossing New Horizons
To catch a Walking Leaf in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you’ll first need to catch 20 or more bugs in that day. The Walking Leaf is one of the few critters in the game that has spawn requirements, and if you don’t catch 20 bugs before 5pm, you’ll miss your chance of catching it for the day.
After catching 20 other bugs, equip your Bug Net and start walking around all of your trees. Look out for anything that looks like a random furniture/ item leaf on the floor. It’ll look a little like this:
If you do, ready your net by pressing and holding A and slowly approach it. When you’re within range, let go of A and your villager will swing their net.
If you get too close too fast, the Walking Leaf may begin moving, but it’s not too fast so you can catch it fairly easily.
Walking Leaf Sell Price
A Walking Leaf can be sold for 600 Bells at Nook’s Cranny.
If Flick shows up on your island, you can sell any bug to him for 1.5x its normal selling price. He’ll buy your Walking Leafs off you for 900 Bells each.
