Rage 2: How to Unlock Blast & What It Does

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Rage 2’s slick and intense gunplay is easily its best feature, but there is much more to gameplay than fierce shootouts. True to its Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic wasteland setting, the game features vehicular combat, too. But not all vehicles are created equal and some are more powerful than others. Here is how to unlock Blast and what it does in Rage 2.

Unlocking Blast in Rage 2

Just as you can upgrade Ranger Walker’s various abilities and stats, so can you also customize and upgrade your vehicle. One such ability is Blast, which acts as a special attack to counter shielded vehicles you’ll encounter on the mean deserted streets of Rage 2’s wasteland.

Indeed, some enemy vehicles –usually, ones within a convoy– have Energy Shields which make them impervious to damage from normal weapons. That’s where Blast comes in, a vehicle upgrade that cuts through enemy shields. Anything to make your life easier in this wasteland is worth it.

To unlock Blast, press the touchpad (PS4) or View button (Xbox One) and scroll along to the vehicle section. From here, you can view the upgrade by pressing X (PS4) or A (Xbox One) and then purchase it for 10 auto parts.

To actually use Blast in combat, hold triangle (PS4) or Y (Xbox One) until it unleashes a blast wave.

That is everything you should need to know about how to unlock blast and what it does in Rage 2. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to check out our extensive wiki page.
