How to Melee in Division 2

The streets of post Dollar Flu Washington D.C are dangerous, so you need to take advantage of every type of attack you have in your arsenal. Here’s everything you need to know about how to melee in Division 2.

While, from very early on in Division 2, you get access to two weapons at a time in your loadout, you might not have a weapon equipped that helps you when involved in a close range fight.

Shotguns or submachine guns may be better options when being rushed by an enemy, but you may prefer sniper rifles or more powerful LMGs that work better in open situations. Thankfully, the ability to melee ensures that you’re not completely out of options when you don’t bring a short range weapon out on a mission with you.

To melee in Division 2, all you need to do is press R3 if you’re playing on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. When you press it, it will see your character swing their weapon towards the enemy that’s near you.

You should know, however, that melee in Division 2 is not the most useful tactics for combat. While it’ll knock a decent amount of health off a standard enemy, it’s going to leave you pretty vulnerable when taking on bosses or even enemies that are just a little more powerful.

Melee attacks are an okay final option when you’re overcome with enemies, but don’t expect it to take everyone out in one hit. The better option might be to roll away to a range that’s good for your weapon, rather than swinging your weapons around repeatedly.

That’s everything you need to know about how to melee in Division 2. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our Division 2 wiki guide that continues to be updated.
