Just like in past Soulsborne games, you’ll need to defeat enemies and gather up a type of resource to be put into attribute points. However, the leveling process isn’t made available to you right from the very start of the game.

Leveling Up in Elden Ring

  1. Get past the tutorial section to enter the open-world proper.

Leaving the Stranded Graveyard behind, you’ll enter Limgrave, and this is where the game properly starts.

  2. Speak with Varre, who’s standing right outside the building, and he’ll give you some info on the Tarnished.

He’ll also direct you towards Stormveil Castle, just northwest of you, so start heading in that direction.

  3. Get to the Gatefront Ruins Site of Grace.

This Site of Grace is located right outside a large gate that leads into the compound of Stormveil Castle. Rest here, and a cutscene will play where Melina comes to greet the Tarnished.

  4. After this cutscene, you’ll be able to level up at any Site of Grace.

Rest at a Site of Grace and choose the Level Up option. If you have enough Runes, you can increase a single attribute, which will in turn increase your character level.elden ring how to level up

Runes can be obtained by killing enemies and bosses, and you can also consume Golden Rune items you find scattered about in the open-world to obtain a small amount.

Be careful, though; just like in past games, if you die, you’ll drop your Runes. You’ll have one chance to retrieve them at the place where you died, and if you die again, you’ll lose them for good.

That’s all you need to know about how to level up in Elden Ring. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
