Forza Horizon 5 Preload Times

The good news is that Forza Horizon 5 can be preloaded now, both if you’ve purchased it digitally from the Microsoft or Xbox Stores, or if you’re going to be playing it via Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass for PC.

Simply select the game and choose the option to Pre-Install. Doing so will kick-start the installation.

Keep in mind that this could take quite a while, as the file size for the game is pretty big. The actual time it’ll take to download will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection.

If you’re buying a disc copy of the game, you can still begin preloading via the Xbox app on smartphones. Simply find ‘Forza Horizon 5’ in the Store and press the ‘Download to Console’ option. You’ll still need to insert the disc to play the game, but this will cut down installation times on its release date.

What’s the File Size of Forza Horizon 5?

A blog post from the development team shared all file sizes for Forza Horizon 5 on all platforms. These are as follows:

  • Xbox Series X|S: 103 GB
  • Xbox One: 116 GB
  • Windows: 103 GB
  • Steam: 103 GB

As such, you’re going to be looking at at least 103GB install size for Forza Horizon 5, but an even larger 116 GB install if you’re playing on the original Xbox One consoles. We’d recommend preloading the game now if you’re looking to start playing on release day.

What Are the Unlock Times for Standard, Deluxe and Premium Editions?

When you can start playing depends on the version of the game you’re picking up.

Those who buy the Deluxe and Premium Editions of the game get three days early access and can begin playing on Friday, Nov. 5 at midnight in their time zone.

If you’re just picking up the Standard Edition, you’ll be able to begin playing on Monday, Nov. 8 at midnight in your time zone.
