When you play your first match of FIFA 21, you may notice something’s different. It’s not the gameplay. It’s not even the player models. It’s the commentary team. Lee Dixon and Derek Rae have taken the roles of the commentary team in FIFA 21, and that may have some people wondering if there’s a way to change it back to Alan Smith and Martin Tyler.
Can You Change FIFA 21 Commentary Team?
Unfortunately, we’ve got some bad news for you. You cannot change the commentary team in FIFA 21, meaning you’ll have to put up with Lee Dixon and Derek Rae providing the voice-over for your soccer action.
While this might not be the end of the world to some players, others might be disappointed to hear that Martin Tyler and Alan Smith aren’t in FIFA 21 at all. The duo, that regularly feature in Sky Sports’ football coverage have been the commentary pairing in FIFA since 2005.
To make matters worse, Lee Dixon and Derek Rae simply can’t fill the shoes of the fan-favorite duo from FIFA of years past. In FIFA 20. EA Sports played around with the new commentary team by having them spectate just a handful of games, now there’s no way to escape them.
If you head into FIFA 21’s menus, you won’t find any option to change your commentary team. You can turn commentary off altogether in the sound settings, but we’d just mute the game altogether and whack some music or a podcast on at that point!
Will Martin Tyler and Alan Smith Be Added Into FIFA 21?
As much as we’d love EA Sports to accept they made a mistake and add the iconic commentary team back into FIFA 21, it simply doesn’t seem likely to happen.
EA Sports seldom makes changes to the core gameplay features of its FIFA titles once they’re released, instead focusing on live content for the Ultimate Team mode.
Given Martin Tyler and Alan Smith won’t drive the sales of Ultimate Team packs, you can bet your bottom dollar they won’t be added into the game!
That’s everything you need to know regarding the FIFA 21 commentary team, and whether or not it can be changed. Sadly, you’ll be stuck with Lee Dixon’s terrible lines for the duration of this year.
