Getting Purple Mums in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Green Mums are one of the most annoying hybrids to get in this game, right up there with blue Roses, and to get them you’ll first need to breed some purple Mums.

First things first, you’ll need some Mum seeds, which can be purchased from Leif whenever he stops by your island. If Mums are your island’s native flower, they can also be purchased at Nook’s Cranny. If all else fails, you might want to try visiting a friend who has Mum seeds in their shop and purchase them from there.

Once you have them, it’s time to start breeding.

To get purple Mums, you’ll need two seeded white Mums. It’s important that your whites are from seeds, as whites gotten from your cliffs or mystery islands have different genomes that could result in a different colored hybrid. Two white Mums have a 25% chance of giving you a purple Mum, so your chances there are pretty high.

Alternatively, hybrid yellow Mums bred from seeded reds and yellows also have a 25% chance of giving your purples as well.

To be as efficient as possible with the planting process, we’ve included a graphic down below, courtesy of the folks over at Reddit, to indicate how you should space our your plants. The checkerboard pattern is no longer the most efficient way of growing hybrids, and you should try to make sure all your plants are touching each other in some way.

That’s all you need to know about how to get purple Mums in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
