Once you get to the Sector 5 slums in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you’ll meet Moggie, an NPC who runs a shop called the Moogle Emporium. Instead of Gil, he only accepts Moogle Medals as payment, and you can buy an assortment of interesting items from him. In particular, he sells an item called the Moogle’s Mortar, which only costs you one Medal.

It’s recommended that you buy this item when you see it, especially if you intend on completing all of the side quests the game has to offer. You won’t need it right at that point in time, but it will come into play once you reach chapter 14, and a series of new side quests open up to you.

In chapter 14, you’ll receive a side quest called Secret Medicine in the Sector 5 slums, which tasks you with retrieving three different items. One of them is the Moogle’s Mortar itself, so if you’ve already bought it, that’s one step down. And that’s pretty much the sole purpose of the item: to help you complete the side quest.

It’s not a required quest for main story progression, and you’ll still be able to come back to clear it even after you’ve beaten the game.

That’s all you need to know about how to get and use the Moogle’s Mortar in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
