Best Characters in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

During Intermission periods in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot’s story as well as during the end game, you can choose which player you play as and which support characters are in your party.

Admittedly, there are still limits to what you can do – namely, that you can still only play as the playable characters like Goku or Gohan, while Krillin and Yamcha are still only available for support – but it still offers you the chance to play the game how you want to play it.

However, if you’re looking to optimize your party with the best characters around, then your best bet is to have Goku, Vegeta or Adult Gohan as your playable character, with the other two Saiyans playing support to whoever you choose.

Why Goku, Vegeta and Gohan Are the Best Characters

As for why Goku, Vegeta and Adult Gohan are the best characters in the game, the answer is simple: They’re broken in how much stronger they get over the course of the game.

While other characters can reach level 100 and get some absurdly high stats, the Saiyans eventually pass all of them thanks to their transformations granted to them throughout the story.

Transformations, like Super Saiyan, are available in any fight for some minor drawbacks. They significantly up your damage, open up new combos, and increase your speed.

This means that characters that have transformations are far more useful than characters that don’t have them. They’re also simply the characters you spend the most time as in the story.

This eventually puts them so far ahead of the other characters that they’re easy front-runners for who you should play.

Likewise, many of their techniques are useful in both a player and support role, and can make even the game’s secret boss fights easier.

It’s a bit unfortunate, but for fans of the Dragon Ball series and its games, it’s an unfortunate truth of adapting a series where the roster of viable protagonists narrowed considerably with the addition of each new Super Saiyan.
