The Beast Ball is one of the many, many different types of Poke Ball in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Initially introduced in Sun and Moon, some players may be wondering how to get a Beast Ball in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Getting a Beast Ball in Pokemon Sword and Shield
To get a Beast Ball, you’ll first need to beat the Pokemon League. This includes beating Leon and becoming the Champion. After this, the credits will roll and you’ll be sent back to your house. Use the Flying Taxi service to go to Stow-on-Side.
Head left from the Pokemon Center until you see the market stalls.
Talk to the man on the right of the two and he will give you a Beast Ball simply for being the Pokemon Champion of Galar.
You can only get one Beast Ball from this merchant, so don’t waste it.
What Is the Beast Ball Used for in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
So here’s the weird thing. The Beast Ball isn’t really all that useful or worthwhile in Pokemon Sword and Shield. In Sun and Moon, this ball had a 5x catch rate when it was used against one of the game’s Ultra Beasts. Using it on any other Pokemon would result in a 0.1x catch rate multiplier instead.
As there are no Ultra Beasts in Sword and Shield, there’s no real reason to use the Beast Ball. You can use it on anything just to waste it, but what’s the point?
For now, we just advise keeping the Beast Ball in your inventory for safe keeping. Just in case something comes up further down the line that actually makes it useful.
While there’s been no announcements regarding post-launch plans for Pokemon Sword and Shield, we keep our fingers crossed. There may be some sort of event that brings Ultra Beasts or other Pokemon to the Galar region. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
