The Horde Rush co-op mode in Fortnite tasks players with racking up as high a score as they can possibly get as they grind their way through four waves of zombies, only to then have to take down a final boss. While it’s a basic mode, high score chasing is quite compelling, and if you want to really rack up a high score in Horde Rush, you’ll need score multipliers.
What Do Score Multipliers Do in Fortnite Horde Rush?
Score Multipliers are exactly what their name suggests — they add a multiplier effect to your score. On the right-hand side of the screen in this mode, you’ll see a ‘Team Multiplier’ bonus. By picking up a Score Multiplier in Horde Rush, you’ll increase this permanently by one. For example, if you’ve got a Team Multiplier of two and then pick up a Score Multiplier, this will now be three.
What Do Score Multipliers Look Like?
Score Multipliers are incredibly easy to see when you’re playing Horde Rush. Simply look out for the glowing purple crystals that’ll eventually be scattered around the map. They also have ‘Multiplier Bonus’ in white writing marked above them, so you shouldn’t have too much of a hard time seeking them out. How to Get Score Multipliers in Fortnite Horde Rush
Score Multipliers pop-up around the map, normally in the Defend Points where the storm stops moving and the various zombie spawn towers will appear. Your best bet if you want to rack up a high score quickly in Horde Rush is to quickly sprint around the map and grab these, while your teammates focus on taking down the zombies and distracting them.
Once you spot one of the purple multipliers, all you need to do is run on over to it and press X on Xbox One, Square on PS4, E on PC, and Y on Switch and you’ll begin to collect it. It takes about three seconds to actually pick it up and add it to your team multiplier, so make sure you’ve got enough space between you and oncoming zombies.
How to Complete Score Multiplier Challenge in Horde Rush LTM
As is always the case with particularly unique limited-time modes in Fortnite, Horde Rush has its own set of challenges. One of these tasks players to ‘Collect 10 Score Multipliers.’ As you might have guessed having read the rest of this post, all you need to do is go about the map and collect 10 of these purple rocks.
It’s worth noting these don’t have to be collected in the same game of Horde Rush, either, so you and your friends can all work towards completing it at once and just keep playing matches of this mode over and over until you’re all set.
